Measles Resurgence in the U.S. Reaches 33-Year High Amid Vaccine Hesitancy

What's the variable in the equation?

Mennonites have always had "vaccine hesitancy".  The variable is how many unvetted "newcomers" they're exposed to after the Biden open borders.

You haven't bothered to think to any depth about this, have you?

The variable is obviously how often the unvaccinated encounter an infected person.  Even just a single encounter is enough to start an outbreak in a population without herd immunity.  Measles is the most easily transmitted virus.  An infected person can spread it before they even have symptoms.

https://www.cdc.gov/measles/causes/index.html

It's unlikely to come from a "newcomer".  Surely, you've heard that people do frequently travel out of their area and encounter strangers, no?

  • They can blame vaccine hesitancy.  But that hasn't changed in, for example, the Mennonite community.    What has changed is their odds of being exposed to 3rd world "newcomers" who came acro

Sorry, I can't fix stupid.

It's even worse per capita.  Canada and the UK have a much smaller population than the USA and yet, more cases.

Europe has marginally more people, but 50-100 times as many cases.

Vaccine hesitancy is a thing in the UK and Europe.

There’s scientific research available on on the resurgence of measles outbreaks:

Not true. Dr Vernon Coleman spells it out.

"Anyone that tells you vaccines are safe and effective is lying."

Or necessary I might add.

Monumental humbug Sir.

I've not seen evidence to support your claim. But plenty that say the opposite.

Oh yes, ITMA.

Vernon Edward Coleman (born 1946) is an English conspiracy theorist and writer, who writes on topics related to human health, politics and animal welfare. He was formerly a general practitioner (GP) and newspaper columnist. Coleman's medical claims have been widely discredited and described as pseudoscientific conspiracy theories.

So if I want measles vaccine to stop a measles outbreak, why do big Pharma insist I take 2 other vaccines for unconnected diseases with it?

If i want a Zinger burger, would you also insist I buy a Big Mac and a Pizza at the same time?

Good old Wiki again.

"The person most likely to kill you is your doctor." Another Dr Coleman classic. Is he wrong though?

White-coats are good at pushing pills, procedures and vaccines, but do they want to cure their patient?

Canada and the UK numbers are in the OP.

Other countries are also facing similar challenges. The UK recorded its highest number of confirmed measles cases since 2012 last year, totaling nearly 3,000, while 529 new cases have been reported in England in 2025 alone. In Canada, over 3,000 cases have been documented this year, with the provinces of Ontario and Alberta hardest hit.

I posted the link to the Euro numbers from the WHO in my post above.  But here it is again for the folks that don't read before they post:

According to an analysis by WHO and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), 127 350 measles cases were reported in the European Region for 2024, double the number of cases reported for 2023 and the highest number since 1997.

European Region reports highest number of measles cases in more than 25 years – UNICEF, WHO/Europe

https://www.who.int/

EU figures say something different:  https://measles-rubella-monthly.ecdc.europa.eu/  from https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/measles/surveillance-and-disease-data

Measles cases from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2025

In the most recent 12-month period, from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2025, 30 EU/EEA Member States reported a total of 17 940 cases of measles.

Between 1 June 2024 and 31 May 2025, of the 17 940 cases with known age, 7 732 (43.1%) were in children aged under five years; and 5 243 (29.2%) cases were aged 15 years or above. The highest notification rates were observed in infants under one year of age (602.4 cases per million) and children aged 1-4 years (333.2 cases per million).

Of 16 360 cases (100.0% of all cases) with a known age and vaccination status, 13 968 (85.4%) were unvaccinated, 1 446 (8.8%) were vaccinated with one dose of a measles-containing vaccine, 883 (5.4%) were vaccinated with two or more doses, and 39 (0.2%) were vaccinated with an unknown number of doses.

During the 12-month period, 11 deaths (case fatality rate (CFR): 0.1) attributable to measles were reported to ECDC by Romania (eight), France (two) and Netherlands (one) (Figure 4).

The reason is because the west have signed up to a tripple vax agreement; ''The MMR programme.'' All the single doses were sent to Africa, and Sth America so the people in Europe and the US couldn't have just the one.

It is business. Nothing less. Although very shady.

Big Pharma does not insist.

You can request individual vaccinations, they are available.

You might have a job getting those. Some countries just don't have them.

I linked to WHO numbers, which apparently include parts of Europe outside the EU.

If you don't like their statistics, take it up with WHO.

Your immigrant bashing is a constant.

It's no secret that I, like most Americans, am against unvetted illegal immigration.  If you're expecting some remorse for that, good luck.

Why is it that the same liberal western apologists who constantly screech that Euro migration wiped out indigenous populations can't wrap their heads around the idea that maybe the increase in diseases today is related to immigration in the other direction?

They seem to be forgetting reports like this:

Measles Outbreak Associated with a Migrant Shelter — Chicago, Illinois, February–May 2024

Fifty-seven measles cases were associated with residence in or contact with persons in a migrant shelter in Chicago, Illinois.

The article in the link is misleading as Central Asia is NOT a part of Europe, there are not 53 countries in Europe:

"127,350 measles cases were reported in the European Region in 2024, double the number of cases reported for 2023 and the highest number since 1997, according to an analysis by WHO and UNICEF.

Children under five accounted for more than 40 per cent of reported cases in the Region – comprising 53 countries in Europe and Central Asia."

So?  You're nitpicking.  The salient part is the 2x increase between 2023 and 2024.  Vaccine hesitancy doesn't work that fast.  Immigration does, if you recall your history.

When I was young there was no vaccine and nearly every child caught measles at some point, I had it as did my brothers and sister  I remember my mum covering me in calamine lotion because it itched like hell.

We didnt die and all recovered fully with no problems with the added bonus that we now had immunity.

Our next door neighbours children 3 girls also got measles they all recovered and didn't die but tragically one of the girls lost her sight went completely blind.

Measles is very contagious and can have life changing consequences or even death it is not very wise to be complacent simply because it is rarely seen these days, the fact that it is rarely seen is entirely down to the vaccination program the same as smallpox that has now been completely eliminated worldwide entirely due to vaccines another one I remember is polio rarely seen these days at least in 1st world countries again another successs for a vaccine.

I made dam sure all my children were vaccinated.

So how do you 'splain it happening in Canada, the UK, and the "European Region"?

Do they have worm infested Alu-hats, or do they just have a lot of unvetted and unvaccinated immigrants?

555 that's not serious, is it?

I can't see any more stupid, incompetent idiotic government in the world than in US.

And concerning the migrants....they get all necessary vaccination and health care.

ALL people in EU get affordable health care, even the poorest and homeless.

That makes the difference.

So why do they have so many measles cases.  50x as many as the USA, according to WHO.  And twice as many in 2024 as in 2023.

Stop spreading nonsense as your WHO / UNICEF report includes countries like Kazakhstan which has nothing to do with the EU.

He talks about the EU, numbers here as in my previous link: "In the most recent 12-month period, from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2025, 30 EU/EEA Member States reported a total of 17 940 cases of measles."

I referred to it just as WHO did:  "European Region".  Take it up with them.
