Hi ecorn, here in Chumphon there is a kite surfing school and its very popular. The beach they use is a 2km bay with good sand and some good cheap accom. The weather isnt the best for it at the moment but am told next month is the start of the kiting season. If you need anymore info let me know and I'll try and hook you up with some of the guys.Cheers Dunc :o

I windsurf.

If you want to head to Jomtien, and aren't going to tie me up in ya lines, I might be up for a trip.

Also go to Bangsaen, but that is a bit dodgy in the winter winds.

I used to do alot of windsurfing in Oz.Then I saw the light :o.

Thanks for the replies any info on Chumphon would be great as I am heading that way next month.I have considered going to Hua Hin but I thought the place there was closed until the high season.

Steve lets know if your keen to for a trip promise I wont tie you up in my lines.

I kitesurf in Hua Hin. It's one of the best spots in Thailand due to the long windy season (actually two seasons back-to-back) and huge, uncrowded beach. There is a jellyfish problem at certain times, though, during which you must wear long clothing and keep an eye out for them.

The windy season will generally start up in about November and last until the end of April. It starts off with NE wind and large waves, then in January, switches to SSE and calmer seas.

Check out kiteboardingasia.com - they are a full-service shop and the only game on the main beach.

Hi There.

I kitesurf and just moved to BKK from denmark /(35 years old)- and I am gonna stay for three years or so (working). I plan to buy a car so that i can get around. this weekend i was in Jomtien, with my wife to have a look at the spots (there a to clubs there)...no wind and very depressing :D

I have realized that Thailand is not the most windy part of the world. :o .....and when you stay in BKK it take som planning to hit the wind and the spot - at the right time.

Becourse I will not have the opportunity to kite as much that I am use to - becourse of lack of wind and the hours you must spend to get to the good spots. I also look into wakeboarding. By google i see that club taco is maybe the best and easy to.get-to club.???

If any are in for some trips both kite or wakeboarding I will be happy and ready!!...Why isnt there a webcam at the kitespost so that you can se if there is any vind?

all the best..see you at the water!

Hi Gerdy

The size of kites they use here are alot bigger than in Europe Pattaya does get more wind now the monsoon season is changing so usually around this time of year there is`nt much wind things should improve next month.

Here`s the place to go Kitesurfing http://www.clubloongchat.com/06/mapclubloongchat.htm the owner is a guy named Pop they are the distrutor for Naish in Thailand. At Na Jomtien(Pattaya) there is quite a big community of kitesurfers you can store your gear there for a small fee as welll which is quite handy they also hire kites.

Here`s another link for the wind http://www.windguru.com/int/index.php?sc=1587 I am told that Bang Na(1hr drive from BKK) usually blow a few knots more than Pattaya but the beach is suppose to be pretty dirty.I haven`t made it down to Hui Hin yet but I think it`s very seasonal.

Anyway I will send you a PM.
