Pattaya police are seeking additional witnesses following the dramatic apprehension of Phonlawat, a 26-year-old motorbike courier, on Saturday night. Dubbed the "Boom Khunphaen Rider," he faces allegations of blackmail, threats, and physical violence.

Phonlawat was reportedly cornered by a group of enraged women and their friends near Central Pattaya Road. This unusual scene unfolded outside a bike rental shop, where the suspect was eventually handed over to the authorities.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Dusadee, head of Pattaya City Police’s crime suppression division, around ten individuals were found holding Phonlawat when officers arrived. Among them were five women claiming to be his victims.

One accuser, 30-year-old Oranong, recounted meeting Phonlawat via a dating app and Facebook. Initially, their relationship seemed standard, but it quickly turned dark, involving violence and coercion.

“He assaulted me and threatened to post private videos unless I complied with his demands,” Oranong disclosed.

Another woman, 32-year-old Jiraporn, had previously lodged three complaints. She accused Phonlawat of vandalising her motorbike, threatening to leak explicit content, and physically attacking her. Her viral social media post about the ordeal spurred over 1,000 comments and encouraged other alleged victims to speak out.

Despite these allegations, Phonlawat claims innocence. He admitted to meeting several women online and confirmed relationships with some but insists everything was consensual. “I never filmed anyone or damaged any property,” he assured police.

Lieutenant Anirut Jehrah of Pattaya City Police Station confirmed that all parties have been questioned, with Phonlawat’s details recorded as the investigation unfolds. To maintain order, police later dispersed the crowd and encouraged any additional victims to come forward.

Authorities are contemplating charges, which may include assault, criminal damage, blackmail, and harassment. They urge anyone with information to assist with the investigation.

The case highlights the dangers of digital interactions and the importance of trust and caution in online relationships. In today’s digital age, personal safety remains paramount.

The community watches closely as more victims may yet emerge, reinforcing the need for vigilance and the crucial role of law enforcement in safeguarding citizens. The unfolding of this case could have broader implications for online safety measures in Thailand.

For those who may have experienced similar issues or have information, contacting Pattaya police is essential for bringing this case to a resolution.
