In a significant step towards modernising military capabilities, the Commander of the Ratchamanu Task Force under the Naresuan Forces presided over the closing ceremony of the fourth cohort of the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Combat Drone Operator course. The event marked the successful completion of a rigorous tactical training programme aimed at enhancing national defence readiness and security along Thailand’s border areas.

The programme, designed to produce skilled drone operators capable of precision bombing and advanced reconnaissance, is considered a vital component in strengthening the operational capacity of Thai security forces. Graduates of the course are now equipped to conduct a wide array of tactical tasks including aerial surveillance, target acquisition, laser designation, forward observation, fire adjustment and the precise deployment of aerial munitions via unmanned systems.

The intensive training course ensures operators can effectively manage UAS technology to engage high-value targets (HVTs), enhancing the military’s ability to carry out strategic operations with minimal risk to personnel. The integration of combat drones into tactical units provides a significant force multiplier, enabling rapid response and improving mission outcomes in border security and counter-insurgency efforts.

Military officials hailed the course as a concrete measure to improve battlefield efficiency and national defence. The commander emphasised that this enhanced capability directly supports the overarching mission to safeguard the nation, uphold the institution of the monarchy and protect the lives and wellbeing of Thai citizens.
