Coway, the renowned water purifier brand, has reassured customers of its product quality following a claim by Thai celebrity Chanya Tamada that her purifier’s water contained coliform bacteria. Chanya aired her concerns on Facebook, alleging the water from her Coway device fell short of advertised standards.

The celebrity, previously reliant on imported bottled water, switched to a purifier to cut down on plastic waste. Seeking assurance of cleanliness, she tested the water, receiving results indicating high coliform levels, which suggest potential faecal contamination.

This prompted her to request a refund from Coway, only to encounter a complex complaint process, pushing her to publicise the issue online.

Following this, Chanya admitted potential inaccuracies in her testing process and clarified her aim was purely to ensure water safety, not to harm Coway’s reputation.
