A 26-year-old woman who was two months pregnant lost her life after being run over by an 18-wheeler lorry in a horrific road crash on the evening of 15 July, in Samut Prakan province.

The incident occurred around 19:30 on Phuttharaksa Road, near the Red Bridge Junction and just before the entrance to the Bang Pu Industrial Estate. Emergency responders from Samut Prakan Hospital’s rescue unit, officers from Bang Pu Police Station and Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found a white Honda Giorno motorbike lying damaged in the middle of the road. Nearby, the body of a woman was discovered with severe head trauma, having been crushed by a lorry wheel. She was later identified as Ms. Laddawan 26, who, according to a medical assessment, was approximately two months pregnant.

Roughly 30 metres from the crash site, an 18-wheel trailer truck was parked with visible traces of blood and brain matter on its rear mudguard.

The truck driver, Mr. Chaloemchai, 31, told authorities that he had been driving in the centre lane when he noticed a motorcycle in the right-hand lane. As he approached the area where the collision occurred, the motorbike suddenly veered into his lane, giving him no time to react before the impact.

Police conducted an initial investigation at the scene, collected CCTV footage from nearby cameras and interviewed witnesses to determine the cause of the crash. The body of the deceased was transported to the forensic department at Rama Samut Prakan Hospital.

Authorities have stated that they will contact the victim’s family to claim her body. The investigation remains ongoing to determine whether any charges will be filed in connection with the fatal crash.
