Its amazing how you project your fantasies on others.

Do you think that Chase Strangio, Esq, is a man?

Why the obsession with genders and genitalia, buddy? Traumatic childhood, or do you hate your own "junk", whatever type and shape they may have?

PM me if you need someone to talk to!

Of god, another closeted guy has fixated on my avatar again. I honestly had no idea there were so many of you in the MAGAverse when I chose it, but it does explain a great deal of what you write.

Is he your president, buddy? And if not, what are you doing here questioning why other non-Americans are here.

Ever heard the word "hypocrite"?

Yes and....cable TV, satellite, and streaming models also played a huge role in that change.

Yah, true, there a lot of choice now, the one single tribe has been replaced by a mosaic of tribes.

The decision to defund NPR and BPS serves as evidence that fascism is taking hold in the USA.

So, state controlled media protects against fascism?

You must be a leftist, yes?

Colbert's show was unprofitable. The revenues did not cover the costs of the show, and this was no secret. The cutbacks were expected in 2023 after the other CBS evening shows were  cutback. James Corden's show ended in 2023. There is no conspiracy. No one is watching late night TV the way they did back in the 1970's when it was the only option.

NPR and PBS funding reduction is completely different than the commercial network cutbacks. It is a bad decision and rural USA will soon make its sentiments felt. Local PBS stations in the rural USA have a strong bond with their communities and it will not go over even in Republican districts. The cutbacks are the reflection of big city MAGA people. This old House, Antiques Road Show, Masterpiece Theater, Frontline,  Washington Weekly, Local farm reports and agricultural specials and other shows are very popular and are funded by some large Republican contributors who do not support this reduction. I expect that funding will be restored in a year or two.

No. Don't confuse short sighted, petty and stupid behavior for fascism. It is just ignorance, from the type of people who do not understand why there is a need for libraries or museums.

PBS is not state controlled. It is the Public Broadcasting Network and has a diverse and apolitical board of directors.

Every entity is controlled by whatever funds it.

So let the people that want it, fund it.

As I understand it, the federal funding is only a drop in the bucket. Almost all funding comes from private donations.

The federal funding is more critical for smaller market stations. Large market stations like Boston or New York can raise 85% or more of the budget from the public and corporations. Unfortunately, rural stations need the government grants. These are the radio stations that put out the tornado warnings, the farm reports and detailed information on water levels, drought conditions etc. The federal funds are used for content development, community services, and for  providing service in markets that the private sector would otherwise ignore. There has been a reduction in local news and weather reporting with a centralization of broadcasting into super stations with pre-set programming often originating from a large urban area. These urban mega stations do not sent out the rural storm watch warnings, nor are they integrated with local civil defense networks. As I wrote, it will be the rural Republican  towns and counties who suffer. Once those people in Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Wyoming, Montana etc. start to see the impact, you can bet they will complain.
