A weekend dispute between a couple in Pattaya escalated into violence, leaving both injured. The altercation occurred at 10:30pm on Saturday, 19 July, in a home on Soi Ban Lang 7, prompting a swift response from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rescue team.

Upon arriving, rescuers discovered 38-year-old Duangporn suffering from a significant head injury, caused by a glass bottle. Emergency services administered immediate first aid before taking her to Pattaya Hospital for further medical attention. Her husband, a security guard, sustained injuries but refused treatment.

The argument began when the husband, drinking with friends outside, heard Duangporn on the phone inside the house. Misinterpreting her agitated tone as criticism directed at him, he stormed in and slapped her, humiliating her in front of his companions.

In self-defence, Duangporn attempted to retaliate with a knife, leading to a struggle during which her husband disarmed her and struck her with a beer bottle. Both sustained injuries in the altercation.

Duangporn revealed that the couple has been together for over seven years, yet their relationship has been marred by repeated domestic violence. Despite numerous attempts to leave, she has felt unable to break free. This latest incident, she noted, might finally compel her to end the relationship for good.

Police are actively investigating the matter, focusing on the couple's statements and any formal complaints, to decide on further legal actions.

As the investigation proceeds, the story underscores the troubling issue of domestic violence and the complex challenges faced by those trapped in such situations.
