They say if you chase happiness it runs away like a dog. Let it come to you but how?

Some people have told me they can be happy anywhere. Others can't they need specific surroundings.

Where in the mind is happiness generated?

Wow, Susan, second new topic from you today and this one really has it all. AI-level fortune cookie wisdom mixed with a sprinkle of bargain-bin philosophy. Earth shattering stuff!

Let me guess, tomorrow’s topic will be ‘Do clouds have feelings?’ or ‘Is farting the key to enlightenment?’

I think some are only happy complaining. Complaining gives them a chemical fix like problem gamblers.

Little bit of confusion creeping in there......most posters would be happy if you were in Palestine.

cloud is a visible mass of tiny water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. Clouds form when water vapor in the air condenses into liquid droplets or ice crystals, which occurs when the air becomes saturated with moisture and cools down. This process can happen when warm, moist air rises and expands, cooling as it goes higher in the atmosphere. The droplets or ice crystals then gather around particles like dust, forming the visible cloud. Clouds can vary in shape, size, and altitude, and they play a crucial role in Earth's weather and climate.

It's like with Zen meditation. You just sit and medidate. If you chase ecstasy it won't come. If you just sit and meditate, eventually, it will drop by.

Complaining can provide a dopamine boost, which explains why people might find it temporarily satisfying. This dopamine release can create a cycle where individuals feel the need to complain more to experience that same sensation. Similar to how some activities provide an immediate rush, complaining can act as an ego trip, giving a false sense of accomplishment without actually addressing the underlying issues. This quick hit of dopamine can make complaining addictive, as it offers a momentary escape from stress or dissatisfaction.

For instance, I'm blissfully happy that Will is stuck in boring Isaan in a dead end relationship without romance, spark or joy.

That's what you are attempting, no?

Online stalkers often experience heightened levels of dopamine, a brain chemical associated with pleasure and reward, which can contribute to addictive behaviors. This dopamine release is similar to the brain's response to other rewarding activities, such as eating or social interaction, and can lead to a cycle of seeking more stimulation through stalking. The pursuit of attention from a particular individual can trigger a significant dopamine release, making the behavior more compelling for the stalker. This dopamine-driven behavior can be difficult to resist, as the brain seeks the continued reward of the attention received.

Self reported happiness is very unreliable. Maybe he is maybe he isn't.

Grow up in a very dysfunctional family and just the absence of pain produces it's own happiness. I know from experience.

Very low sex drive also reduces the need for status. Blessed with good dopamine production and without any effort life is quite happiness inducing.

Put in the effort to remove suffering in oneself and live in beingness and often the default is a kind of contentment often know as happiness.

Movie watching has been linked to dopamine release, which is associated with pleasure and reward mechanisms in the brain. Research suggests that the repeated attraction to movie watching may be tied to the mesolimbic "reward" system, with dopamine playing a key role in the pleasure derived from movies. Additionally, certain movies are described by users as providing a "dopamine hit," often due to their engaging, entertaining, or emotionally stimulating content.

(Maybe that's it)
