Police in Bang Lamung District were called to investigate the discovery of a decomposing body found hanging inside a rented room in Soi Takhian Tia 42, Moo 3, Takhian Tia subdistrict, Chonburi province.

Pol Lt Sorasuphon Odtansri-anan, deputy inspector of Bang Lamung Police Station, responded to the report, accompanied by rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation, Pattaya branch.

The body was found inside a single-storey rented accommodation. The deceased, later identified as Mr Veerasak Naendee, 40, from Ubon Ratchathani province, was discovered with a white extension cord was found wrapped tightly around his neck, with the other end tied to the ceiling beam.

Police estimated that the man had been dead for at least two to three days, as the body showed signs of decomposition and emitted a strong odour. No signs of struggle or ransacking were observed at the scene.

Ms Ratchanee Sirimonta 58, the man’s ex-wife, told police that they had separated over four months ago. She received a call from his sister, urging her to help find him after he had not been seen for several days. Other acquaintances had also reportedly been searching for him, particularly as he had borrowed money from several people and disappeared.

Concerned, she went to his rented room and called out to him repeatedly with no response. Looking through a small opening in the door, she was horrified to see her ex-husband hanging inside.

Although the precise motive is unclear, Ms Ratchanee believes financial difficulties may have driven him to suicide. The deceased had previously claimed he had been cheated out of 20,000 baht while working as a welder and had taken loans he was struggling to repay.

Police believe the incident was a suicide but have sent the body to hospital for a full post-mortem examination. Relatives, including the ex-wife, have been called in for further questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
