DeSantis urges Florida sheriffs, police chiefs to fight ICE

Featured Replies

Gov. Ron DeSantis is encouraging sheriffs and police chiefs in the state to fight to keep staff members as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement seeks to recruit Florida officers who recently completed immigration enforcement training.

DeSantis said he had not seen an ICE recruitment letter that offers a $50,000 signing bonus to recruits who work five years, but he questioned the need to "poach our people who are already in the fight."

Florida law enforcement agencies have sought to help with immigration enforcement, including through what are known as 287(g) agreements with the federal government.

Once again Desantis shows why he lost to President Trump.

Doesn't fit in the allotted space. Anyway, It's pretty clear from the lead sentence what it's about.

Are you concerned about low information folks who get their news solely from headlines? I'm not.

It's about luring readers with a false headline.

BIG difference with Desantes urges to fight ICE or

to fight ICE recruitment efforts among his sheriffs/police.

Already spent too much time here.

What a waste.

If only there was a snappy way of describing this darned, complex, mental trickery so people could be warned off.....

Clickbait?......That sounds good.

Actually, the article raises an interesting point. Is there a net benefit to public safety  or not. After all, police forces are primarily dedicated to protecting life and property. Whereas the primary mission of ICE is to deport illegals. If forces from the police and sheriff's departments are drawn into ICE will that be a net benefit to society?
