A 48-year-old man from Bang Lamung district was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after reportedly consuming herbicide in a suicide attempt, believed to be triggered by emotional distress following a dispute with his wife.

At approximately 08:30 on 3 August, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation in Pattaya received an emergency call reporting a man who had ingested poison at a rented room in Moo 5, Khao Mai Kaew subdistrict. Rescue personnel arrived to find Mr. Komin, unconscious and foaming at the mouth outside the bathroom of the property.

Emergency responders administered first aid at the scene before quickly transporting the victim to Hospital for urgent treatment.

At the scene, a bottle of herbicide was found placed on a wooden bench outside the rented room, which authorities believe had been partially consumed by Mr. Komin in his attempt to take his own life.

Neighbours told reporters that Mr. Komin had frequently quarrelled with his wife in recent weeks. On the evening of August 2, she reportedly packed her belongings and left, following a particularly heated argument. This appears to have deeply affected Mr. Komin, who became increasingly distressed and despondent.

On the morning of the incident, Mr. Komin reportedly called his stepmother to say goodbye and inform her of his intention to end his life. She immediately alerted emergency services, who arrived just in time to prevent the tragedy.

Initial assessments suggest that Mr. Komin’s actions were driven by emotional turmoil and heartbreak stemming from his wife’s departure. He remains under medical supervision.
