Koh Larn’s chaotic transport scene is about to be tamed with a fresh initiative from Pattaya officials employing bright stickers to control the island's vehicle frenzy. Over 3,500 vehicles, including motorbikes, taxis, and golf carts, will be sorted, monitored, and regulated as part of a new system designed to enhance safety, transparency, and tourist satisfaction.

Chon Buri Governor Thawatchai Srithong spearheaded the launch, distributing the new classification stickers at Wat Mai Samran temple.

This initiative introduces nine vehicle categories to address long-standing issues like overcrowding and unregulated operators disrupting the island’s narrow paths.

“These stickers will help us assign each vehicle a clear identity and role,” stated Governor Thawatchai. “This makes it simpler to trace complaints, accidents, or any wrongdoing back to the accountable party.”

With each sticker carrying a driver ID and classification, resolving disputes and distinguishing between private and commercial usage has become more manageable. The stickers come at no cost to vehicle owners, as reported by Pattaya Mail.

Following a 14-day shutdown for a thorough vehicle assessment, Koh Larn now requires collaboration from two of three local bodies, Pattaya City, Pattaya Police, or the Bang Lamung District Office, for any increase in vehicle numbers.

In addition, authorities are working to establish fair fare rates, curtailing the frequent issue of price hikes that tourists face. Vehicle operators will need to assess renters' driving capabilities, confirm insurance coverage, and stay up-to-date with licences.

“This initiative is a significant move towards structured and sustainable tourism and enhances Pattaya’s appeal as a secure, hospitable international destination.”
