Police at Bo Thong station in Chonburi province were called to a distressing incident after a 77-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Moo 5, Pluang Thong subdistrict. The victim, identified as Mrs. Yom, had sustained fatal head injuries.

At the scene, officers discovered a thick wooden stick, approximately 2 inches thick and 3 inches wide, lying near the victim, which was collected as evidence. The suspect is her 50-year-old son, Mr. Charan, who admitted to the assault.

Following the incident, Mr. Charan reportedly felt remorse and sought to ordain as a monk at Wat Wang Ree to repent. However, the temple’s monks declined his request, leading him to surrender himself to Bo Thong police.

Mrs. Praipai, 59, a former colleague of Mr. Charan who worked with him in construction, shared that he had recently stopped working after withdrawing money from his employer. She had intended to visit him that evening but was shocked to learn of the fatal attack on his mother.

It was known that Mr. Charan frequently consumed alcohol and smoked cannabis. He often spoke about communicating with “gods in heaven,” claiming that if the gods commanded him to kill, he would obey. Friends had joked with him not to harm them, never expecting he would attack his own mother.

Police documented the crime scene thoroughly as the investigation continues and handed the body to rescue volunteers to transport to hospital for detailed forensic examination.
