A Thai woman was pulled from the sea in the early hours of the morning of 12 August, after she was found convulsing in the waters off Pattaya Beach.

The incident occurred at around 02:00 near the entrance to Soi 6, Beach Road. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation, along with Pattaya City police, rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a possible drowning.

On arrival, they found a group of Thai and foreign tourists gathered as bystanders brought the woman, believed to be aged between 20 and 30, ashore. She carried no identification documents and her name has not been confirmed.

Rescue workers administered first aid before rushing her to Pattaya City Hospital, where she is now under close medical supervision.

According to Mr. Chonsit Buarung, 25, a local resident who jumped into the sea to save her, the woman had been drinking with friends earlier in the night. After her companions left, she remained alone on the beach before walking into the sea and disappearing beneath the surface.

“I saw she was in trouble, so I immediately jumped in and pulled her to safety,” Mr. Chonsit said, adding that he called the emergency services right after bringing her ashore.

The cause of the incident remains unclear. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a suicide attempt or an accidental near drowning while swimming after drinking alcohol.

Thanks to the swift actions of the rescuer and emergency crews, the woman survived and is now receiving medical care. Police are working to identify her and notify her family.
