Three people were injured when a pickup truck driver, carrying meatballs, skidded out of control in heavy rain, overturning and slamming into a light pole in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri.

The crash happened in the early hours of 16 August at around 00:35, just before the motorway junction on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre in Pattaya rushed to the scene after receiving reports of people trapped inside the wreckage.

At the site, rescuers found a damaged bronze Isuzu D-Max pickup, registration number from Rayong, modified with a tall steel cage. The vehicle had overturned onto the central reservation and crashed violently into a streetlight pole. Its cargo of meatballs was scattered across the wet road surface.

The driver, a 20-year-old man identified as Ittipol and two passengers were trapped inside the wreck. Rescue workers worked, in the rain, to free the victims using cutting equipment. All three were given first aid before being rushed to hospital.

Another driver, 31-year-old Sukrit, told police that his car had been struck from behind by the speeding pickup. “It came up fast and suddenly hit the back of my car. That caused it to lose control and flip into the pole,” he said.

Investigators from Pattaya City Police recorded evidence at the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the crash.
