Pattaya City has launched its annual basic fire safety and evacuation drill for 2025, aimed at equipping municipal staff with essential skills to respond effectively in the event of an emergency.

The training, held at Pattaya City Hall, was opened by Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat, who presided over the ceremony. He was joined by Komkrit Phonwichit, Director of the Disaster Prevention Division, along with city officials and contracted staff.

The programme is designed to provide participants with fundamental knowledge of fire prevention, proper use of firefighting equipment and safe evacuation procedures. It also seeks to strengthen understanding of effective fire systems and to build confidence in handling emergency situations.

The training was divided into two main sections:

• Theoretical training, covering the causes of fire, types of fire and extinguishing methods, correct use of fire extinguishers, psychology in emergency situations, and preventive measures to reduce fire risks.

• Practical training, which involved a simulated fire evacuation drill to prepare staff for real-life scenarios.

Speaking at the opening, Deputy Mayor Kritsana stressed that safety remains a priority for Pattaya City.

“Ensuring the safety of our personnel and the public is of the utmost importance. This training is a key measure to raise awareness and enhance the skills needed to prevent and respond to fire incidents effectively within the organisation,” he said.

The initiative forms part of Pattaya City’s broader commitment to disaster preparedness and public safety.
