A late-night confrontation between rival teenage groups erupted in gunfire, leaving an 18-year-old school student injured after being struck by stray shotgun pellets.

The incident occurred at around 01:00 on 18 August near the entrance to Somdet Phra Srinagarindra 95 Park (Khao Pae Choi) along the railway road in Trang Municipality. Police said the two groups had arranged to meet to settle ongoing disputes when one of the youths fired a shotgun into the air.

The pellets struck the female student, a Mathayom 6 pupil, who had accompanied friends to the scene. She sustained injuries to her leg and hip.

Following the shooting, the injured girl and her friends fled the area on a motorcycle and sought help at a petrol station on Huai Yot Road. Staff there immediately contacted rescue workers and medical personnel.

Volunteers from the Kusolsathan Trang Rescue Foundation provided first aid before transferring her to Trang Hospital. Doctors confirmed her condition is stable and she remains under close observation.

Investigators from Trang Provincial Police and Muang Trang Police Station have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend the shooter and others involved.

Police vowed to bring those responsible to justice swiftly.

High time that they stop this unnecessary violence, and give the dorks that don´t understand better harsh punishments. But with a lazy police force, that don´t work if it´s no money in it, and a corruption so high that daddy police or daddy rich can just wave the problems away, there is no solution to be seen.

Where are the parents/guardians??? It is a normal day so what is an 18 year old student doing on the streets at 1 am??? They should be in bed and sleep as they have to go to school the next day and they need to rest... I know they can sleep in the classroom, but still where is the parental control??? And of course... the non enforcement of any law by the lazy RTP is to blame too.. The RTP should work 24 hrs a day 7 days a week and not from 8.30 till 17.00 as it seems most of the time.. Years ago my Thai friend told me that after 17.00 you could as you wanted as the police did not work anymore.... so it is going on for years
