A police pursuit ended in a car crash in Kamphaeng Saen district, Nakhon Pathom on the morning of 19 August, with authorities discovering a haul of ketamine.

The Toyota Yaris overturned at a sharp bend on the road into Nakhon Pathom and the driver was nowhere to be found, by the time police got to the scene. Police are currently investigating whether the vehicle’s license plate, KJ 8041, registered in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, is genuine.

Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered 19 kilograms of ketamine, packed in 19 separate one-kilogram bags. Police estimate the street value of the drugs at over six million baht. The drugs have been taken to Kamphaeng Saen Police Station for further examination, including fingerprint analysis and forensic testing.

According to investigators, officers from Metropolitan Police Division 6 had been tracking the suspect’s vehicle since the previous night in Kanchanaburi. During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly switched vehicles before continuing in the Yaris. The chase culminated in the crash, after which the driver fled into the surrounding area. Police deployed units to track and apprehend the suspect, who is believed to have sustained injuries in the crash, from blood found at the scene, but could not locate the driver.

Authorities have pledged to bring the individual to justice and ensure the seized narcotics do not reach the streets.
