The tattooed imbecile will have to hand over a few million Baht to the victim's family in order to avoid jail.

Where would he find a few million Baht?  Oh, wait!  GoFundMe!

In an emergency just swim at night.

Don't forget to tie a few empty plastic bottles together, for a buoyancy aid as well.

I never meet any of the upper class Brits in Pattaya

I implore all here to look at the young girls photo. Ask yourself would you offer $675 au. in money to compensate the family to compensate this girls death? I hope he gets a minimum of 10 years. He's absolute scum.

Temporary or replacement passport can be applied for in the country he has fled to. Don't know why they released him on bail.

He can try, but if the British Embassy in that country has been circulated the details about him - no way!

Never crossed a land border here.......but I can't imagine it would be that difficult to cross with help.

He should never have been released.......unless this is what the Thai authorities hoped would happen.......one less problem to deal with.

Do not know about other borders but the one with malaysia has towns basically integrated with the other side and specially malayans hop in and off like nothing through not oficial channels..sp the youth like to party at the thai side obvious reasons....

And well the laos borders all you need is someone willing to take you to the oposite  bank off the mekong ...is not It?

If he is being helped so easy to escape .....then get back to europe might be an issue through air with no docs ...

It doesn't take a genius what is attracting these sorts of men to Thailand. Over the past few years we've seen masses of them arrive in Thailand.

you have to take the rough with the smooth.

You start feeling a bit excited after staring at the "young" girl's photo (she's a 49-year-old woman!) and on that basis you decide that the compensation should be higher???

A crime is a crime, regardless of the victim's attractiveness rating.

"Learn about the England"

Hmmm...not sure if you are the one one to pontificate about England/English.

... and then there is the grade A1 halfwittedness of suggesting that anyone who speaks English should learn about England...  I've no idea how anyone, regardless of how dumb they are could attempt to try and draw that conclusion.

A crime is a crime, life is life etc.. I think everyone agrees... and that is dealt with by criminal charges and sentencing.

However, compensation may consider variables such as age, where the 'earning potential' is now lost, and children and family have less financial support... thus age could well factor into compensation...  as you point out, degree of attractiveness is irrelevant.

Was she wearing a helmet? It's the law I believe.
His lawyer will argue that head injuries only occurred because she wasn't wearing a crash-hat.

But a max of 10 years is lenient for this matter, max 12-18 years in UK.

He was seen eating Laab Moo on the corner of Kophai and South Pattaya Rd, using one of those odd shaped local spoons.

He did a stupid thing, exacerbated by it being a electric bike. Normally you would hear the idiot in the vicinity, but if it's a quiet bike, it's entirely possible that the lady had no idea of an approaching vehicle.

That`s  why i hate everything electric on the streets.  you don`t hear them coming, very dangerous as a bike rider.

Hate electric cars with a passion, not only because i`m german , but i prefer the roaring sound of a Porsche Boxer motor than a Teslas` any time of the day.

Hells angels ,that was around 10 years ago

No, I looked into it. And no one was ever charged with the murder. The killers were an Englishman and a South African who fled to Cambodia then vanished.

Hopefully he will get 10 years!

Why? That would be far more  than is customary for the incident. It was an unintended consequence of  stupidity, not an intentional killing. No, I am not excusing the driver, but first offenders in Thailand typically don't get more than 1-2 years at best for vehicular deaths. 10 years is what might be given to a multiply convicted drunk driver fleeing.

WOW! What empathy!

he wasn't drunk nor on drugs - so he did this in a rational and sane state of mind ? So should be given a lenient sentence?

I think JakeC is in a relationship with Brandon, certainly has a sweet spot for him.

Well it does say in the thread he faces UP TO ten years and ten years is the maximum for the upgraded charge of  'reckless driving causing death'. Not sure what would be customary....

Getting released after 1 or 2 years for causing death of an innocent person due to reckless behaviour would seem extremely light and an insult to the victim and her family.

Angry old men still venting? He's not going to be sentenced to ten years in jail, so stop salivating over it. Sorry for your disappointment @Ralf001 You'll just need to find someone else to hate.

If you get your passport confiscated, they report it to the person's embassy immediately. No chance of him getting a new passport or even a temporary in another country.

no they dont

its Thailand

if this guy fled the country  and applied straight away he could get a temp passport

everything here takes days and days to fix any kind of document report
