Two people, one of them a 15-year-old boy, have been killed after their motorcycle collided with a trailer truck in Ayutthaya province. The truck driver fled the scene.

The crash occurred at around 19.30 on 21 August on the Nakhon Luang–Bo Phong Road, near a fertiliser warehouse in Pak Chan subdistrict, Nakhon Luang district.

Police and rescue workers arriving at the scene found a grey Honda motorcycle, badly damaged and the bodies of two victims who had been dragged several metres. They were identified as Mr Settharin, 15 and Mr Teerapong, 25, who had been riding the motorcycle.

A trailer truck with Chonburi licence plates was discovered parked nearby, but the driver was missing.

A 14-year-old eyewitness told police he had been riding behind the victims when heavy rain began to fall, prompting them to accelerate to escape the downpour. As they did so, the trailer truck pulled out of the fertiliser warehouse, cutting across their path. The motorcycle struck the vehicle with force, before being dragged along the road.

The witness said he shouted for the driver to stop. The driver halted and briefly checked the scene, claiming he had not seen the motorcycle, before taking advantage of the confusion to escape.

Police said they have already identified the driver and are working to bring him into custody to face legal action.
