Police in Samut Sakhon have arrested a 48-year-old man known by the alias “Tiger Silk” after raiding his home and finding him in the act of assembling improvised explosive devices alongside a large quantity of methamphetamine pills.

The suspect, identified as Wichan, was detained at his residence in Tha Sai subdistrict, Mueang Samut Sakhon, following a sting operation on 22 August. Officers acting on intelligence posed as buyers before signalling colleagues to storm the property once sufficient evidence had been gathered.

Inside, police discovered Wichan preparing explosives for customers. Items seized included three finished grenades, 47 short detonators, 14 long detonators, 670 grams of explosive propellant, three ready-to-use fireworks launchers, 36 completed skyrockets and 44 partially assembled devices. Hundreds of methamphetamine tablets were also recovered, packaged in both large bags and smaller zip-lock packets.

During questioning, the suspect admitted to making and selling homemade bombs, including ping-pong bombs, skyrockets and powerful fireworks. He claimed his products were in high demand among vocational students and other regular customers due to their “high quality and lower prices.”

He further confessed that he had only recently turned to selling methamphetamine as a “side business” after clients began requesting drugs along with the explosives.

Police have charged Wichan with offences under The Explosives Act and Narcotics Control Act. He and the seized evidence have been handed over to Mueang Samut Sakhon Police Station for further legal proceedings.
