A 15-year-old schoolgirl is in a critical condition after being shot in the back of the head during a motorcycle gun attack in Lam Luk Ka district, Pathum Thani province.

The incident occurred at around 16.30 on 22 August, when police at Khu Khot station received reports of a shooting on Soi Sakulrattanakom in Lat Sawai subdistrict. Officers, led by Pol Col Kantaphon Wanna, rushed to the scene alongside rescue workers.

At the location, investigators found a large pool of blood but no victim, as emergency crews had already transported the injured girl, identified as Fah, a Mathayom 3 student from Wat Khlong Chan School, to Saimai CGH Hospital. She had sustained a severe gunshot wound to the back of her head.

Police recovered a spent .38 calibre cartridge and discovered that two motorcycles had been involved. One, a blue-and-black Honda Wave registered in Kalasin, belonged to the victim’s 15-year-old male friend who was driving at the time. A second bike, a blue Honda Wave with Bangkok plates, showed damage to its handlebars caused by gunfire.

According to the friend riding the motorbike, he and two other teenagers were riding together when they noticed a man waiting by the roadside on a motorcycle. The suspect, described as a young male wearing a full-face helmet, a T-shirt and shorts, followed them into the soi before pulling out a handgun and firing. The first shot struck Fah, knocking her from the motorcycle. The gunman then reloaded and fired again, hitting the handlebar of the other boy’s motorbike, before the suspect fled towards Lam Luk Ka Road.

Pol Col Kantaphon confirmed that police have already identified the suspect and are reviewing CCTV footage from along the route. Forensic officers are also examining the recovered cartridge for fingerprints.

“The investigation team is working urgently to track down the suspect and bring him to justice,” he said.
