A man notorious for his criminal background was shot dead outside his home in the early hours of 24 August, in Ron Phibun District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

Police from Ron Phibun Station were alerted to the incident at a single-storey house in Khuan Chum Subdistrict. At the scene, they found the body of Mr Nakhon Suebsai, 42, known locally by his alias “Khon Thung Lor”. He was lying face down on the ground outside his house, wearing only a brown towel.

The victim had sustained two gunshot wounds, one to the waist and a fatal shot to the head. A methamphetamine pill was discovered near the body and seized as evidence.

Initial enquiries revealed that Nakhon was considered an influential figure in the area and had a long history of criminal activity. He had been arrested several times in connection with drug offences, attempted murder and robbery and had spent periods in prison. His activities and reputation had earned him numerous enemies both locally and from neighbouring areas.

Police believe the killer was someone familiar with the victim, who called him outside the house under the pretext of discussing an illicit business matter. The assailant is thought to have first shot him in the waist, causing him to collapse, before firing a second shot to the head at point-blank range. The gunman then fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Investigators suspect the murder stemmed from an ongoing dispute in the criminal underworld. They are now working to identify and locate the suspect, while continuing to question witnesses and gather forensic evidence.
