Police from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) have arrested a 63-year-old property developer from Bang Saen who had been on the run for years in connection with a series of fraud cases involving bounced cheques totalling more than 150 million baht.

The suspect, identified only as Mr S., owned a number of real estate and apartment businesses in the seaside town. He had been wanted on 31 separate warrants issued after cheques he issued between 2017 and 2018 failed to clear, leading to significant financial losses for a bank which had lent him more than 150 million baht.

After years evading arrest, Mr S. was finally tracked down when officers learned he was driving from his residence. Police intercepted him at a petrol station in Chonburi and took him into custody without incident.

The court had already proceeded with hearings in his absence, convicting him in 31 cases and handing down a combined sentence of 10 years in prison. Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly confessed to the charges and was immediately transferred to court for further legal proceedings.
