In the end, paranoid as I am, I downloaded the bank's app just to check if the message regarding face recognition was present, and it was. The deadline is September 9th. As I mentioned, I never use the app, and in fact, I've already uninstalled it. I'll be returning to Thailand on the morning of the 9th. Do you think if I go to perform this facial recognition on the afternoon of the 9th or on September 10th, is there a risk my account will be freezed? I know you'll tell me to contact the bank. I already did that two days ago...still waiting...

They would of messaged you already if they planned to freeze. They are dumb they message 40,000 people who all turn up on day 1, rather than stagger the messages

Where they suppose to text me? On my number? Email? Just asked as I don't use the bank app. Thanks again.

i think the messages are being received by sms although may show in app

So which bank's "wondrous" app are we talking about here?

Facial is voluntary. Needed to raise limits in the app.

Deadline?

Never noticed that at Bangkok Bank or Kasikorn.

What has it to do with account freezing?

At TTB? That's new to me.

Correct: is voluntary and is about limits as you wrote.

Deadline, I suppose that if you want to raise the limit in the app., you need to do it before 9 September, otherwise the bank will set up the limit automatically at 49.999 thb. I copy and paste the bank on that:

"....Face authentication required. Effective 9 September 2025 onwards.
Foreign customers will be required to authenticate transactions via face scan (Face authentication) when using ttb touch in the following instances:
- Transfer equal to or exceeding 50,000 THB/transaction.
- Cumulative transfer value reaching every 200,000 THB within one day.
- Increasing the daily transaction limit."

I was a bit too quick with that.

Of course ttb can also suspend an account if there is inconsistency with the registered phone number/SIM.

But not about face scan.
