Pattaya is in the spotlight as the third Pattaya Film Festival unfolds, showcasing free screenings and fostering cultural exchange to boost the city's tourism economy.

The festival started on 28th August at SF Cinema Central Pattaya, drawing filmmakers, actors, and film enthusiasts from Thailand and abroad. Running until 30th August, the event aims to solidify Pattaya’s role as a UNESCO Creative City for Film, highlighting Thailand’s growing influence in global cinema.

Organised by Pattaya City, the festival underscores ambitions to establish the city as a regional film hub. Known for its vibrant nightlife and entertainment, Pattaya now looks to cinema to further its international reputation.

Mayor Poramet Ngampichet expressed optimism about the festival’s potential impact. “I firmly believe the third Pattaya Film Festival will elevate Thai cinema and create lasting value for the industry. I invite locals and tourists to immerse themselves in this cinematic experience and enjoy high-quality films from around the world.”

The festival features the Thailand premiere of "Dream" and a diverse selection of 16 Thai and international films at SF Cinema Central Marina. The programme includes critically acclaimed titles such as "20,000 Species of Bees," "Influencer," "Alien: Earth," "Kiss the Con Queen," "Deeper," and "Renoir." Thai films like "Viman Nam," "Youth 2544," and "Mr. Hurt" also make their mark.

Expanding beyond traditional cinema settings, the festival hosts 16 open-air screenings across four Pattaya locations. Audiences can enjoy Tony Jaa’s action-packed films at Bodhi Court in Na Kluea, horror premieres like "Last Night" with Q&A sessions at Hat Mai Krathueng Thong Temple, animated favourites such as "Khan Kluay" at Nong Yai Temple, and comedies including "AI Exclusive" and "Gang Muang Puan Yaowarat" at Pattaya Central Beach.

Alongside the cinematic offerings, attendees can explore local food stalls and community product booths, merging film culture with authentic Thai experiences.

The Pattaya Film Festival 2025 continues until tomorrow, featuring screenings and events at SF Cinema Central Pattaya and various outdoor venues. Attendees can find the full schedule on the festival’s official Facebook page.

This vibrant celebration not only enriches Pattaya’s cultural landscape but also reinforces its position as a thriving hub for international film lovers. With the potential to draw visitors and enhance local tourism, the festival promises to leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
