US Tourism Suffers 8.2% Decline

Featured Replies

International tourism to the United States faces an unprecedented 8.2% decline in 2025, with the World Travel and Tourism Council projecting a $12.5 billion loss in visitor spending -- the only decline among 184 economies analyzed. Canadian visitors, traditionally comprising 28% of international arrivals, have dropped by approximately 25% through July.

Seattle tour operators report 30-50% fewer Canadian customers with many explicitly citing recent tariff policies and political rhetoric as deterrents. The newly implemented $250 "visa integrity fee" for certain countries compounds existing concerns about immigration policies and National Guard deployments in major cities. Tourism Economics now projects full recovery to pre-pandemic levels won't occur until 2029, three years later than initially forecast.

Good job Donnie.

Hotels will become cheaper for citizens and there will be less tourists that decide to stay here illegally.

only a disaster for a country like thailand, who needs to kiss the worlds ass to keep their economy afloat

Must be nice to have such a simple view of the world. I guess that's why you're a MAGAt.

Simple yet you cant refute any of my points. We have never been reliant on tourism. Thats hotels and theyve been ripping people off for a while now

Should be 100%

I wonder how many of those 8.2% weren't planning on going back home after their visit?

In any case, that should make Greta happy.  Less airplane carbon.  But you just can't please lefties or greenies, no matter what you do.

Yesterday, I pointed out a snippet of a similar gloom and doom OP indicating that the devastating reduction in tourism would reduce US GDP by 0,04%.  The sky's not falling.

Some places are getting hit harder than- 8.2 %. Las Vegas, for example.

AI says a projected job loss of 230,000.

and revenue down $ 12.1 Billion.

It's OK. Tarrifs paid by the working class will make up for it. Good job Donnie.
