I've just taken delivery of my new Toyota Yaris Cross, bought from a Toyota dealer.

It includes 'free' insurance with Aioi Bangkok Insurance.  The insurance schedule Toyota have given me, shows a Premium of only 645.21 baht.  Does this mean it's just the compulsory government insurance and not a First Class policy?  Or is it just temporary while I have the dealer plates?

If you think that it could be first class insurance for 650 baht then you really should consider many things again very carefully.

you never clarified what they meant by giving you "free insurance”?

Hence my question.  Is it the compulsory government insurance?  Or is it some type of temporary cover until the vehicle is properly registered?  I paid 14,000 a year for my old Nissan, so I'm well aware of the approximate price of First Class insurance.

I'm just surprised Toyota would provide this 'free' and not mention anything about the necessity to buy a separate policy.  Do they do this on all new cars?

That’s only the Por Ror Bor (compulsory government insurance).

You’ve either already paid — or will pay — that premium to Toyota along with the road tax and white plate fee once registration is completed in about a month.

For reference, Toyota just renewed my second-year registration, road tax, and insurance package for 18k, including a discount for running safety metrics on the T Connect app.

You didn't ask when buying ?   I'm pretty sure they gave us info to contact ins. co. if having an oops, with all purchases from Toyota, Mazda & MG, and possibly even the policy coverage, at delivery or when given white tags.

Think you're asking the wrong people.   Ask Toyota / Aioi bkk ins.,  for a copy of the policy coverage.

no mention of free insurance in the Yaris Cross promotion page

https://www.toyota.co.th/promotion/yariscross

2nd installment, free 1st class insurance Toyota Care PHYD**** is mentioned on the COROLLA CROSS

The Por Ror Bor (compulsory insurance) starts when the car first runs on red plates and continues through to the white plates — but only for a total of 12 months.

Paradoxically, the 12-month period of car tax starts only when the blue book is issued — so never the twain shall meet.

I got clarification from the Toyota dealer today.  My new car is "fully covered" under a First Class policy provided by Toyota for the first year, even though the only paper work I've been given is the Por Ror Bor certificate.  Full documentation will provided in a month or so...

The policy should tell you everything you need to know

See my update above.  I won't get the policy documents for another 1-2 months.

What did the dealer tell you? Did they say Fully Comprehensive or Third party?

She said "First Class" insurance; all new Toyotas come with it (apparently).

Pretty much all new cars are sold with first class... kinda like the dealership throwing in window tints/floor mats/door wind deflectors/etc etc as "freebies".

When one start bargaining the buy price down... the freebies disapear !

Basically all said.

645 is the compulsory insurance of course.

1st class is worked into the sale price.

Feed your piggy bank for next year.

Premium  > 20k for 1st class.

I was given a free First Class insurance policy plus the compulsory insurance when I bought my Sukuzi.  Read the policy.  645 is the compulsory insurance only.  Make sure you have the other insurance policy in writing.

I have bought 4 new cars, 3 x Toyota and 1 Nissan, and they all had first class insurance from Viryah included, but...........If I recall correctly it covered only 80%, which I only found out about when I went to Viryah for renewal after the first year.
