I don't know how many of the readers knew John, but he dropped dead here in Saudi on Saturday, leaving the works canteen.

With two other Brits, Mark and Andy, all working on this petrochem site, Big John / West Ham John had an interest in a bar business. He had just returned from vacation and, as I say, came out of the diner and dropped like a stone.

Very upsetting to all who knew him. I will try to get more details from Mark at lunch today.
