A family was involved in a road crash in Nikhom Phatthana District, Rayong, on the evening of 3 September, when the driver lost control and collided with a lamp post, killing the parents and leaving their six-month-old daughter in critical condition.

Police from Nikhom Phatthana Police Station were alerted by Siam Rayong Rescue at around 17:30, that a Mitsubishi car had struck a lamp post in Soi 5, Sai 13. The car was reported to have three occupants trapped inside.

At the scene, rescuers found the Mitsubishi registered in Phitsanulok lodged against the base of the pole. Both parents and the infant were unconscious, with the child in a severe condition. Members of the public and rescue volunteers worked to pry open the car doors to free the victims, administering CPR before medics transported the adults to Nikhom Phatthana Hospital and the infant to Maptaphut Hospital for specialised care.

Eyewitnesses, Ms. Mai, 25, and Ms. Paeng, 32, said they were in a nearby shop when they heard a loud crash. “We ran outside and saw the family unconscious inside the car with blood everywhere. We immediately called for help,” one witness recounted.

According to acquaintances of the family, the couple and their daughter were returning home to Nikhom Phatthana after a trip to Rayong. The crash occurred less than half a kilometre from their residence.

Hospital sources later confirmed that the father and mother had died from their injuries, while the six-month-old daughter remains in a critical condition, in intensive care. Police are continuing to investigate the crash and are collecting evidence as part of ongoing procedures.
