Trump Orders Pentagon Rebranding: Now the 'Department of War'

History isn’t a comic book. Nobody with half a brain thinks America won WWI or WWII all by itself, but let’s be honest, without U.S. intervention, the outcomes would’ve looked very different. And calling America’s post-WWII record "woeful" is just lazy sloganeering. Korea was a stalemate, Vietnam a loss, sure,  but what about the Gulf War, Panama, and the Balkans? So if you're only going to count failures and ignore successes, then congratulations, you’ve just reinvented propaganda.

I agree.  Trump doesn't have half a brain.

  • Trump was never a builder. He was a brander. That's what he knows. He has no idea what he's doing as president. So back to what he knows. Branding. What a feckless moron.

  • Now that will put an end to his nobel prize dream. Should have renamed it to Department of peace and love making.

  • Trump's priorities are truly bizarre.  He seems obsessed with renaming as a way of ensuring his legacy. The next President can reverse all of these changes.

Sure, look at the results of the interventions in former Yugoslavia and Iraq to see what a win looks like.

Panama i don't know much about, but isn't that the country trump threatened to invade because it was lost to China?

A lot of people likely thought it stupid when it was changed for war to defense as well.

I am a little mixed. On the one hand, it seems silly, but on the other, it conveys a message.

The "California Department of Fish and Wildlife" used to be called the "California Department of Fish and Game". It seems to me, that entirely different people would be drawn to work in one over the other.

I think the message is supposed to be: "Peace through strength" and "if you want peace, prepare for war".

What about Space Force? Will it stay with the DOW or be exiled to NASA?  I mean it's just a name after all but when meeting with allies and Pete says " I am now the Secretary of War".  Kind of sounds  like the Nicholas Cage movie "God of War".

It is just a name. You can call it what you like . Take Germany; Germans call it Deutschland. What about Japan. Ask a Japanese; they call in Nippon.

Oslookar: Suggest you look up what "Donny Kruger syndrome is.

Trump has never run a successful busines alwent bankrupt. He did not run a globable tv show he was the paid a actor on a show that was all rehearst. Secondly where did I insult him giving an opinion is a free form of expression.

"Unfortunately there are none so blind as he who will not see". Trump is a disaster for the USA and you will see this as he continues being the puppet of those behind the scenes.

Sure, and spend tens of millions on the name change.

Ill assume you crusade daily against the thai government to enact the policies you believe?

That would be a true socialist. Otherwise its all just virtue signaling and grandstanding.

Making all of the comments you do from the comfort of a lovely home that capitalism provided you.

Hypocrisy comes to mind.

I have no ability to "crusade" against the Thai government. I am not a citizen, so, have no vote. I do vote in the USA, but only on federal issues, like electing a president.

To me, the Thai government enacting policies is a matter of governance (democracy - kind of), not an economic issue (socialism). Thailand has an economy that is a mix of capitalism and socialism, as does the USA. In Thailand, however, the percentage of socialism in that mix is greater than that in the USA. I think that's commendable and hope the USA will start increasing the percentage of socialism in its mixed economy.

I do have a lovely home in the mountains of northeast Thailand. Previously, I did participate in the capitalistic system in my home country, the USA. That was the only way to survive in that economy unless you were willing to accept being homeless. I paid taxes, some of which were used for public projects, which is socialism. Now, as I said above, I would like to see my home country increase the percentage of socialism in its mixed economy.

I'm sure hypocrisy comes frequently to your mind. Socialism comes frequently to mine.

What immigrant visa do you hold ?

I don't have an immigrant visa for Thailand. I have a Non-Immigrant Type-O.

Do you live in Thailand? If so, what type of visa do you have?

His another crazy talk.

Pentagon itself,  won't feel  happy  about that.

It creates an war manger image.

While "Defense Department"  sounds a lot more descent and moderate.

Yes, many immigrants from the Arab world are having a better life in Europe, but it comes at the expense of native Europeans, who are asked to shoulder the social, cultural, and economic costs of mass immigration, including higher crime rates in many communities.

I hope the Europeans welcome the opportunity to help these immigrants and understand that sharing and empathy do sometimes come at a cost.

Says the guy with insults and no argument.

Don't you think you've embarrassed yourself enough now? There are arguments from here to the moon, they are written down in numerous threads.

Trump is the worst president the US have ever had. He has torn down democracy at a record speed, in only 6 months. Is that the record you talk about he will be remembered for?

I've been warned not to mention details about my books, but I'll answer your question. The author's name on all of my books is W. D. Smart.

B.S.!

Yes! I usually go by just "Bill Smart" and do have the initials "B.S." 😁 I chose the author name "W. D. Smart" so as not to confuse the reader, since one of the main characters' names was "Cap'n Billy."

Since his inagulation earlier this year, it has been his most consistant move/agenda.

Norwegian? I am shocked by this fella too. We were brought up to think for ourselves, and we should know better. Fortunately most of us still do.

Apart from the fact that Trump campaigned on "No More Wars."

Yes he did. That's what doesn't make sense at all.

Cute line, Jingthing, but parroting a soundbite about Ukraine doesn’t change the fact that Trump rolled back regulations, signed tax reform, reshaped the courts, and cracked down on gangs like MS-13. That’s a record of governance, not branding. You may dislike it, but dismissing it as clueless ignores reality.

None of his moves helped the country. Trump is an ignorant criminal.

That's definitely true. Enriching himself and his oligarch friends has been his goal from his get-go.

Really a lame comment. Can you provide any documents to prove that lie you just made?

An utter ignorant statement by a supporter of the criminal politicians on the left.

I think his main aim this election was staying out of jail. But it's a hard choice between that and grifting.

Look at this its not just Americans who love him but more. Direct from Donnies mouth the Europeans call him the president of Europe. 😂😂

I can assure you they don't. That is a tactic to get a few decisions swinging their way. After departing, they're laughing behind his back, and disgusted by him.

No, USA. And yes, "most" USA voters did vote for someone other than Trump, but a plurality did. And even now, the polls I've seen claim that around 40% of those polled still support Trump. As I mentioned earlier, I simply don't understand this. 😒

Nothing rational makes any sense to you people on the left, might have something to do with being conditioned by the media.

Okay. I figured the person you quoted was Norwegian, for his avatar name.

I agree with you on all points.

Can you prove it's a lie?

A lengthy investigation from The New Yorker estimates Trump and his family will have enriched themselves by more than $3.4 billion by the end of his second term, much of it from deals, transactions, and investments that almost certainly wouldn’t have happened if he’d never been president.
