Trump Orders Pentagon Rebranding: Now the 'Department of War'

I agree with that, although I take exception with the term "renewable." The energy harvested by energy harvesting technologies is not renewed. The only solution to ameliorating our destruction of the Earth's environment is to start using LESS energy, not harvesting more.

Why did you all let 10's of millions of migrants into Europe, Canada, and the USA if the goal was to start using LESS energy?  I have never heard any explanation for that move.

  • Trump was never a builder. He was a brander. That's what he knows. He has no idea what he's doing as president. So back to what he knows. Branding. What a feckless moron.

  • Now that will put an end to his nobel prize dream. Should have renamed it to Department of peace and love making.

  • Trump's priorities are truly bizarre.  He seems obsessed with renaming as a way of ensuring his legacy. The next President can reverse all of these changes.

Fair point on the word renewable, the sun and wind aren’t being renewed so much as tapped. But the bigger issue is that telling 330 million Americans to just "use less energy" isn’t a realistic plan. Efficiency helps, sure, but modern economies run on abundant, reliable power. That means a mix of fossil fuels, nuclear, hydro, and yes, solar and wind where they make sense. The challenge is balancing reliability, affordability, and environmental impact, not assuming we can solve it by cutting ourselves back to candlelight.

But the bigger issue is that telling 330 million Americans  the billions that live in abject poverty in developing countries to just "use less energy" isn’t a realistic plan.

I think WDSmart and the like would just like to see them culled, for the greater good of course.

Trump is simply feeling a bit diminished by the recent summit with Xi, Putin and Kim, and the incredibly quick and remarkable ascent of the BRICS Nations, as an alternative to US dominance. Combine that with the fact that he's one of the most cowardly men to ever occupy the office of president, and it is just simply a bit of typical grandstanding, by a man who loves to project the image of power.

I was in the US Army and the Natinonal Guard. I was deployed twice and this DOW does not sit well with me.  The truth is only about 30 % of the Army is Combat Arms.  AKA: Warfighters.  This means Infantry, Armor, Field Atrillery, Air Defense Artillery and Aviaton.  Most of the Army are Combat Support and Combat Service Support. This includes Military Police, Finance, Medical Serices, Adjutant Genaral, Transportation and even Air Traffic Control for instance. Most the Air Force and Navy are technical specialist and not War Fighters.  For the Air Force CCT (Combat Controllers ) and Pararescue Jumpers coulld be considered as War Fighters and they compose a very small percentage of the AF. We all know SEALS are the War Fighters of the Navy and compartively there  very few of them compared to the rest of the Navy. The Marine Corps War Fighter percentage versus support personnel falls in line with the Army.  Just my opinion but THIS NAME CHANGE OF THE DOD IS STUPID.  Military personnel spend most of their time training for war they hope does not come.

For a guy who campaigned and promised his followers he was an anti-war, anti-US-military-involvement candidate, he's sure turning out to be something else, isn't he? Bombs Iran (as Israel's military proxy, as usual), now changes the name of the Defense Department to the War Department - when the nation is not at war - except with itself.

In my recent book on this subject, I define the three primary causes of our ongoing degradation of the Earth's environment.

  1. Technology - technology is the physical manifestation of the human intellect, and all technology pollutes. Energy technologies, in particular, produce more pollution than usable energy, even in cases like solar, wind, or tides.
  2. Hubris - The belief that we (humans) are the most important thing in the universe, and it is our right to kill or destroy all other resources, living or non-living, to make us feel more comfortable.
  3. Overpopulation - I suggest in my book that we should reduce our population by 90% to live on this planet without destroying it.

But, in the end, I conclude we will not try to change any of the above, and that even if we did, we are already "over the cliff" on the destruction of the Earth's biosphere, so the Earth's, and all other life on it, only hope for survival is human extinction.

A lot of people likely thought it stupid when it was changed for war to defense as well.

I am a little mixed. On the one hand, it seems silly, but on the other, it conveys a message.

The "California Department of Fish and Wildlife" used to be called the "California Department of Fish and Game". It seems to me, that entirely different people would be drawn to work in one over the other.

I think the message is supposed to be: "Peace through strength" and "if you want peace, prepare for war".

Yes, certainly, all MAGA supporters have been conned or are morally bankrupt. This includes:

  • energy independence (which causes more devastation of the Earth's environment);
  • lower taxes (primarily for the rich, and will reduce the funds for needed social programs and increase our national debt);
  • secure borders (which will prohibit people fleeing oppression and economic hardship in their home country);
  • Middle East peace deals (like the cessation of the Israeli genocide of the Palestinians?)

These aren't "tangible results"; they are ill-thought-out, Make America Great Again (without any regard for the rest of the world), and will destroy not only the USA but also many other countries.  I'm in shock that so many of my fellow citizens, and you may be one of those, actually still support Trump.

So now supporting secure borders, affordable energy, and peace agreements makes you "morally bankrupt"? That says more about your worldview than about Trump voters.

Energy independence doesn’t mean torching the planet, it means not being hostage to OPEC and Russia. Lower taxes weren’t just for the rich, middle-class families saw relief too. A sovereign nation has every right to control its borders, while still allowing legal asylum. And dismissing the Abraham Accords as nothing is willful blindness, normalization between Israel and UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan is historic, whether you admit it or not. You can disagree with policies, but branding half your countrymen as dupes or villains isn’t analysis, it’s just your self-righteous contempt.

So, instead of addressing Trump’s policies, your revelation is just anger at fellow Americans? That’s not enlightenment, that’s resentment dressed up as moral outrage.

He is a socialist.

Welcoming immigrants has nothing to do with using less energy. The immigrants would be using energy whether they were in the USA or not.

The primary reason for welcoming immigrants is to provide them with a better life.

No we are not. Pure nonsense.

I can support my position by pointing out that my concern extends beyond the USA to the entire world. I've always said the main difference between right-wingers and left-wingers (like me) is the first single letter of a two-letter word. Right-wingers are only concerned about "me," while left-wingers are concerned about "we."

Three.

Although Russia, under Stalin, did not have a true communist, or even socialist, economy, I won't argue here about that. The biggest problem with Russia under Stalin was not its economy but its governmental system.

Are they allowed to procreate or is that against the rules?

He explains this in his book...which is available on Amazon. The epitome of socialism.

I don't know that much about European immigration, but I assume the immigrants are having a better life.

The three immigrants I took in are allowed to procreate, and have.

All of my books are available on Amazon, but I've not written any in which socialism was the main topic.

All three or do you need another one?

Published under what "author's name"?

You're missing the irony.

Now go back to the wonderful life capitalism has provided you.
