Travellers have named the best and worst airports across the UK—and the results don’t flatter some of the busiest. A recent survey, carried out by consumer group Which?, gathered opinions from almost 6,000 people, who rated airports on factors such as seating, security checks, cleanliness of facilities, food costs, and overall customer service. Smaller regional airports topped the rankings for providing a calmer, less stressful experience, while the major hubs were marked down for overcrowding, long delays, and steep prices.

London Heathrow, the country’s largest and busiest airport, failed to impress. It placed 13th overall, with Terminal 5 earning the highest marks at 59%. Terminals 2, 3, and 4 all performed similarly, hovering in the mid-50s. For one of the world’s busiest international gateways, the showing was notably underwhelming.

Heathrow, however, rejected the findings. A spokesperson argued that the survey was based on “unrepresentatively small samples and personal recollections,” pointing out that the aviation industry already gathers extensive performance data, reviewed and published by the Civil Aviation Authority.
