Pathum Thani police, acting under the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), have arrested a 27-year-old woman for running an unlicensed karaoke lounge exploiting underage and foreign workers, in a case involving human trafficking.

The raid, conducted by the CIB’s Human Trafficking Suppression Division, followed directives from Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panpetch, Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, to crack down on establishments violating laws on narcotics, child protection and labour regulations.

Officers discovered the lounge operating as a “drink and sing” venue, with young female staff dressed provocatively, providing close company to customers. During checks, two staff members under the age of 18 were identified, alongside foreign employees.

The suspect, Juthawan [surname withheld], admitted to opening the karaoke lounge several years ago. She reportedly recruited underage girls via Facebook job postings in June 2025, assigning them to serve customers in VIP rooms. Witnesses said the girls were asked to avoid front-of-house duties and, when police inspections occurred, to hide at the back of the venue to evade detection.

Juthawan faces multiple charges, including:

1. Human trafficking for sexual exploitation of minors aged 15–17;

2. Operating an unlicensed business;

3. Employing underage staff between 22:00 and 06:00 without permission;

4. Employing minors in a commercial service venue;

5. Encouraging or allowing minors to engage in inappropriate or sexually exploitative behaviour for financial gain;

6. Procuring minors aged 15–17 for sexual purposes, even if they consented.

Authorities have taken the suspect into custody at Division 2 of the Human Trafficking Suppression Bureau for prosecution. Juthawan has denied all allegations, claiming she was unaware of her staff’s ages.

The CIB has urged anyone with information or concerns regarding human trafficking or exploitation to contact their hotline at 1191 or the bureau’s official Facebook page.
