The Canada Chiang Mai Consulate's web site claims 20 day processing time for passport renewal.  Today, Sep. 9, 2025 they told me it will take 4-6 weeks.

I dropped the application, photos and payment receipt (paid online in C$) this AM and asked for the new passport to be sent to the Consulate.  It's only a 15 minute drive from home and I think it is a more secure delivery method.

You can pay online in C$ with a credit/debit card, save and print the receipt and submit it with your application.  Currently the fee is C$260 for a 10 year adult passport which is just under 6K ฿ or you can pay with a Thai bank draft for 6500฿.

Bonne chance!

Switzerland, two weeks after application at consulate in Bangkok it was in the letter box sent by EMS. Paid 6xxx Baht with QR code Thai banking.

I had the option to have the old passport cancelled at the application.

So being with cancelled passport for the two weeks.

Took that risk.

Advantage: no sending in the old passport before new one is sent or even picking up at another visit like the Germans!

I have 450 km/6 hours to the consulate

I hope you the excuse the deflection of the topic.

I have no problem with hitchhikers.... we're all headed the same direction.

I wish Canada gave me the option to cancel but keep the old passport.  I would only use if for identification at the bank, etc.  Now I need to transfer some money into Thailand and almost all methods require my passport at some stage.  I may be stuck using the ATM or perhaps use the old Bangkok bank New York method while waiting.
