That all reads like Trump..........   🤭

Trump tells the occasional porky, but I wouldn't describe him as a lefty human rights lawyer.

  • More likely the failing government want to avoid thousands of British patriots turning up to cheer Mr Trump while singing the popular anthem, "Starmer is a ******".

  • Come on Americans, don't be so serious. Just a bit of British banter taking the mick out of your compulsive lying president and his former mate(s).

  • More likely they're looking at what's going on in their country and wishing they had their own Trump to stop the invasion.

Yes, we were talking about the EARLIEST possible date, not the latest. Try to keep up old fella.

The EARLIEST possible date for a GE is today, not next year or 2027 as you infer. I had better explain things to you in detail as you are clearly ignorant of the facts.

The PM could dissolve parliament this morning and - with the permission of the King - call an election this afternoon. Therefore theoretically, the EARLIEST possible date for a GE is today (17/9/25).

Of course, in practice this is Impossible. Sunak dissoluted parliament on 24/5 last year and called the election for 4 July, so an elapsed period of +/-10 weeks. Most political pundits agreed that this was probably the minimal time necessary to round-up the affairs of the sitting parliament, make the necessary logistical arrangements for the forthcoming election and to allow for parties to campaign.

Based on that, practically speaking the earliest possible date for the next UK GE is December 2025, although that will not happen.

Not true. If Labour MP's continue to become increasingly disgusted with Starmer they could vote against him. It's called an internal rebellion.

"Called an internal rebellion", eh? Is that right?

Is that what caused the Conservative Party Administrations to change PM from Johnson to Truss to Sunak? I think it was, you know.

And remind me, did either of those events result in a GE being called? That's right, they didn't.

55 minutes ago, JonnyF said:

Not true. There are many circumstances which could force it. For example if the UK becomes insolvent. Under Reeves, quite possible. Another Labour IMF bailout could also force it.

And yet precedent suggests that such an event might not cause a GE to be called. Dennis Healey had to get an IMF bailout in 1976 but his government survived in office until 1979.

Didn't you say a Leave vote for Brexit was "impossible"? 😃

No. I thought that Remain would win narrowly but certainly didn't think a 'Leave' vote was impossible. Pleased that I could clear that up for you.

Even by your low standards for accuracy and political punditry, this was a very poor effort. You really must try to inform yourself better in future. I don't have the time to correct your numerous and frequent mistakes.

See - you're always wrong. 😃

You thought Harris would win in 2024 as well. 😆 You couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. 😀

Labour are collapsing. It's embarrassing. By 2027 they will be begging for someone else to clear up their mess. They'll be running for the exit doors like a rat fleeing a sinking ship.

2027. General Election. A Reform win. Farage PM. Libs crying. Stamp it.

... the divisive left never ends...

.... the lies from him never ends.....the right described as occasional.... got to be kidding 30,000 times over.

It's worse than I thought. You are now reduced to lying. I made no prediction about the outcome of last year's US election.

Calm down, dear. You are becoming hysterical. Go and have a nice little lie down.

What are the five most egregious lies Trump has told?

Even today he lie when he said that "258 million lives"saved from Fentanyl when asked about his 2nd deadly boat strike. That will be 75% of US population. You can work backwards on his lies if you decide not to stoop so low behind Trump.

An egregious denial even by your standards. 😄

Time for Canada to become a republic. Should have happened when Thatcher sided with the Afrikaner regime when the rest of the Commonwealth were putting sanctions on over their apartheid system. Charles and Starmer going to offer us up as the 51st state?

There are many republics in the world some of them not doing so well. France? Venezuela? Both economies faltering.

Even Canada has dabbled with being a republic in the early 1800's.

It's obvious that I have no time for your views, however, I put your many factual errors down to carelessness and lack of knowledge, not outright lying.

Sadly, it appears that I was mistaken.

Okay, so if that was the most egregious, I think I can live with it.

Thatcher was the Prime Minister .

She wasn't the Queen .

A Republic would mean separation from the Queen , rather than separation from the Prime Minister

"Oh yes he does "

"You are a  blah blah blah

I don't care that he said 100 million lives will be saved because he had a drug-runner bombed.

He told us he would close the border, and he did.

Biden and Harris, both told us they could not close the border.

Did he tell me I was going to be able to keep my doctor when he knew I couldn't?

I was right. You don't really care. Complusive lying has consequences. The border is not totally close. Closing the border also has consequences.

I understand why the British government would want to cozy up to Trump at this point, as far as the general public goes Trump is deeply unpopular throughout the world, so not surprising at all that he was not met by cheering throngs.

It is a State visit? Not a Government visit.

Charles will be polite and lay out the requisite red carpet. Be he cannot influence British government policy but he "might" influence the policy of others? If they aspire to be like him.

Of course the border is not totally closed, people and goods have to pass through it legally every day.

Did you care when Obama lied about my healthcare and Biden lied about the border?

Did you care about Obama lying when he said marriage should be between a man and a woman?

No, but when Trump exaggerates the number of lives lost to drugs or whatnot, you're all over it,

That is your opinion only because you live in an echo chamber

The reality is that more British people favour the Trump visit than disapprove of it .

The UK public is in favour of Trump visiting the UK

Imo most people don't care one way or the other.

He is welcome that much IssanGuy that a fence has been Erected around Windsor Castle to keep protesters out.

A open Carriege ride has been arranged for them but within the grounds of the Castle wow Wells Fargo, and a banguet of American dishes and English/French Quisine. A special pre-order with Uber Eats has been ordered 1/2 pound Burger and fries, and KFC Bucket for the Yanks to make them feel like home.

Unfortunately we, the UK, have nutters just like the USA.

Correct, it's only "close" if you live close to it. since you know not wtf you're mumbling about as usual, the souther border is "closed" to illegal aliens as per Trumps outstanding and effective border security policies.

President Trump just received a MASSIVE and unprecedented ROYAL reception for his historic second state visit to the UK and the democrat haters are hating it.

This is what a RESPECTED America and it’s outstanding POTUS looks like abroad. Biden, if he could find his way without wandering off or getting lost, stumbling, falling, speaking like a 3 year muttering moronic syllables of nothing would have $hit himself in the carriage ride over creating a huge stink, mess culminating in his trademark humiliation and EMBARRASSMENT of the US in line with his usual MO.

A Brit favoring the visit is not the same thing as support or love for Mr. Trump. In some cases yes, in some cases no. It's well understood that it is in the interest of any nation to flatter and suck up to Mr. Trump on a personal level as there may be benefits in policy and not doing so generally means retribution from the current dystopian authoritarian regime in Washington.

Can you please keep him?

Yeah, then we get Vance for 11 years!
