Cynically, were he to die whilst in prison, there are those who would insist that his corpse was embalmed and kept in a cell until he had completed the sentence!

Yes the whole 8 Years , That would  mean  Rotting in Jail .

I guess that he urgently needed to see a foreign doctor to obtain a health certificate for diseases, that no thai-doctor would dare to issue. That could be why he redirected his flight to Dubai, instead of heading back home to Thailand, when the airport in Singapore was closed.

Just give it time before his ailments needs urgent care and he's back in the penthouse suite...

or home care if the attorneys can swing-it.

Right.Im not surprised if he is out of prison soon and serving his sentence at his home.

of course. He knows exactly what to expect, there is no way he would have returned for his dubai jaunt if he wasnt ceratin he wouldnt be in jail for a year.

It seems they forgot to shave his head the first time around

Where is the picture with his new haircut?

The malingerer will soon leave the hospital in a wheelchair, not forgetting the neck brace, and within record time and in perfect health will be back in Thai politics as a free man.:bah:

Good to see his Teflon Shower soap & Shampoo is still working perfect ....:giggle:

I feel "naughty sorry" for the " Thaksin hater brigade "now .....as they where so in joy before  :cheesy:

But be honest a 76 luxury life style guy a sudden behind bars and jail life  , not surprising to get health / mental problems ......

The man has several underlying conditions common to Thai males of his age. One need only look at the health forum to see that what he has is shared with most of the AN members age 75 and above. The man is almost 80 years old, it is normal that he have  some chronic disease that requires close attention.

Here we go again,part two.

After consulting my crystal ball again I've come to the conclusion that this is the 1st of the pre planned chain of events. 1) enter prison as instructed without any fuss.2) Wait a couple days and you'll be transferred to the prison hospital.3) Wait a short while later and you'll become eligible for home stay (bracelet) because you're taking a bed away from someone who needs it more.4) Serve out the rest of your sentence in the lap of luxury by the pool. Who has the last laugh?

Only in LOS

This is a little confusing.

Punished for serving in the hospital before with another term in the hospital?

He won't be there very long. The Takky compound awaits him soon.

its amazing how he made a full recovery from his imaginary illness last time and ever since he was released has been in perfect health and manipulating Thai politics now back in hospital ward again, such a embarrassment, just another example of wealth and corruption, laughable

And a bigger example of wealth and corruption is Anutin. This man is the poster child of the word "Corruption." At least Thaksin is a smart individual and has done some good deeds for Thailand.

Of course his family visit him in the next day he was moved to a hospital ward wasn’t reported was the warden was seen leaving the prison and a brand new Mercedes and all the guards in the prison was seen walking out with big brown envelopes TIT

In a significant turn of events, former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been moved to the medical wing of Bangkok's Klong Prem prison. This shift, confirmed by a corrections department official, is due to his age and ongoing health issues. After a Supreme Court ruling, Thaksin, 76, was ordered to serve a one-year term following a breach in serving a prior 2023 sentence in a hospital suite instead of a prison cell.

Thaksin, a widely recognised figure in Thai politics and business, remains a contentious personality. Having led one of Thailand's wealthiest families, his political dynasty has long grappled with the country's pro-monarchy and military establishments. This comes after his daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, was recently dismissed from her role as prime minister by court order, leaving Thaksin to serve his sentence.

A source revealed that Thaksin was relocated for his health and age but did not specify if he was undergoing treatment. After a mandatory quarantine, his family, including his daughter and former premier Paetongtarn, visited him, observing that while he had some blood pressure issues, he was generally in excellent spirits.

Regulations for prisoners required that Thaksin's hair be shaved, but otherwise, Paetongtarn reported him to be doing well given the circumstances.

Thaksin's political career saw him become prime minister in 2001 and 2005, only to be cut short when he went into exile after a military coup. The return in August 2023 resulted in an eight-year sentence for corruption and abuse of power. Initially, he avoided prison time by staying in a hospital room, before a royal pardon reduced his sentence to one year. Now, he serves his term within the prison system, amid discussions of early release schemes for elderly inmates.

Thaksin’s lawyer, Winyat Chatmontree, stated that no application has been made for Thaksin to serve his sentence outside prison yet. Protocols dictate a mandatory period of incarceration before such requests are considered. He further noted that Thaksin has not asked for any special privileges or room arrangements, clearly indicating his compliance with prison regulations.

Key Takeaways:

  • Thaksin Shinawatra has been transferred to a prison hospital wing due to chronic health concerns and age.
  • He was sentenced to serve a year for breaching initial sentence conditions and has not received preferential treatment.
  • Family visits confirm Thaksin is in good health, with ongoing discussions around his sentence status.

🤮

He is where he should be, considering his age and past health problems. I am hoping that His Majesty will issue a full pardon and reduce his sentence to time served.

Love a bit of satire on these threads.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was a specially designed wing of the hospital, for ultra rich or VIP inmates. 77 inch OLED screens, special catering from Michelin restaurants, and of course a fabulous selection of wine.

A very hard core year in prison.

So we've reached the neck brace chapter again; next in the script is also clear - what a hopeless joke all this is.

While the law makes sense in Thailand, its interpretation and execution ........

Took long enough for the tea money to filter through for a cushy prison stretch. 🤷🏼

Is he wearing a neckbrace again?

He’s clearly a VIP on the Shinawatra loyalty scheme—every prison cell quickly upgrades to the hospital’s penthouse suite, no questions asked.

The good news is that there's currently a job opening for an English teacher.

Thaksin Shinawatra Moved to Prison Hospital Wing for Wealth.

The, fixed the headline.

What a load of steaming freshly-laid pile of foul-smelling BS. After a few days he's got to be moved to the hospital wing... doesn't pass the smell test. Whilst he was prancing around as the political puppet master and pulling the strings on the marionette PM and party... he was tip-top and full off energy. It is painful to watch how stupid they think everyone is... the quicker he is gone from meddling in Thailand, the better.

Well, who would not get sick, after having seen the Ex. 👀

Medevac on standby at prison’s helipad.

Its about time!

Nothing surprising really. A few French politicians have been locked up and had preferential treatment and room.  I would say it’s normal, you’re not going to see ex politicians / PMs etc  in with the Hoi Polloi.  What do you all expect?

what you are missing is he already spent a year in a gilded cage receiveing preferential treatment. The power that be decided that that was neither normal nor acceptible and demanded a do over.

i wonder how chuwit is doing?

And the farce continues. ''The commedia dell'arte '' 'was surely invented in Thailand.

The timing of this move seems quite obvious. The day after his family visits. PRobably carrying a very large envelope with them.

Prison systems are set up that when someone enters with a health issue the are automatically sent to the medical ward in the prison. They do not wait a few days to do this. While in quarantine he was assessed, or should have been and then assigned his place in the prison. They do not move you to the general population and then in a day or 2 or 3 move you to the medical side.

So something is up with this move.

I think it's the boiled eggs and coffee are better in the hospital wing

555555, did anybody have any doubt this would happen?!
