Police in Bangkok have arrested 16 vocational students after a violent street fight in Bang Khae district. The arrests follow a widely shared social media post by luk thung singer Oye Saengsilp, urging authorities to investigate the incident. Parents and teachers were also called in for discussions to prevent further violence.

The clash occurred on 19 September at around 09.10 near the entrance of Soi Phetkasem 69, Bang Khae Nuea. A video posted on TikTok under the caption “hot-headed teenagers armed to the teeth” showed groups of students fighting with knives in full view of traffic. The footage was also circulated on Facebook, drawing public concern and prompting a police response.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom ordered Lak Song police to urgently track down those involved. On 23 September, Pol Col Lertsak Khiemsap, superintendent of Lak Song Police Station, along with Pol Lt Col Thanaphong Meesaengngoen and investigators, identified the suspects using CCTV footage and school records. All 16 participants were located and detained.

The group was divided into two factions: seven students from a technology college and nine from a vocational college. Charges included affray and carrying knives, while one driver also faced an additional offence for obstructing traffic. Police confirmed that all students were formally charged.

Parents of the arrested students were invited to Lak Song Police Station to be briefed on police procedures and prevention measures. Each parent was required to sign an undertaking and post a 3,000 baht bond to guarantee their child’s compliance with the agreement. School administrators from both institutions were also called in to coordinate on disciplinary actions.

Authorities instructed the schools to place the students under probation. If any of them repeat the offence, they will be expelled from their institutions. Police emphasised that cooperation between families, schools and law enforcement is essential to reduce further clashes.

Do these kids even go to school to learn? Seems more likely they go there to manufacture and sharpen their knives or make homemade guns and bombs. It makes me wonder what the school teaches them. Certainly, they are not teaching them something for this to happen so often.
