Walailak Uni Installs Thailand’s Second 13m Radio Telescope

Walailak University, in collaboration with the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) and the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, has installed Thailand’s second VGOS (VLBI Global Observing System) radio telescope. The “Walailak 13-Metre Radio Telescope” will measure tectonic plate movements with precision under one millimetre. The facility will also support research in geodesy and geology within Thailand.

Chinese Woman Divorce Case After Thai Cliff Ordeal

A Chinese woman who survived a notorious attempted murder in Thailand has now faced a divorce hearing in Nanjing, China. On 26 September 2025, the Qinhuai District People’s Court heard the case of “Wang Nuannuan”, who was pushed off a 34-metre cliff in Ubon Ratchathani by her husband in June 2019. The man, Yu Houwudong, is currently serving a 33-year, four-month prison sentence in Thailand for attempted murder.

Myanmar Worker Defrauded in Fake Thai ID Card Scam

A 46-year-old Myanmar national has reported being defrauded of nearly 100,000 baht in a scam involving promises of a Thai national ID card. Fire Destroys 29 Motorbikes at Bangkok Apartments

A fire broke out in the early hours of morning at a apartment building parking area, in Bangkok, destroying 29 motorbikes and damaging several other vehicles. The blaze caused panic among residents, many of whom evacuated the building. Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control within 30 minutes and no injuries were reported.

Baby Elephant Shows Progress but Health Concerns Remain

Veterinarians have reported gradual improvements in the condition of “Khao Tom,” a young wild elephant calf currently under care at Bueng Chawak Wildlife Sanctuary in Suphan Buri.
