Going to Malaysia via a land border

Featured Replies

Hi there. Has anyone entered Malaysia via a land border recently? Do you know whether Malaysian immigration allow non-Malaysians to use the autogates for immigration clearance (ie no stamping of passports)?

Non-Malaysians can use the e-gates if they hold any of the following passports and have completed their MDAC

  • Australia
  • Bahrain
  • Brunei
  • Canada
  • China
  • European Union (all 27 member states)
  • Hong Kong
  • Japan
  • Jordan
  • Kuwait
  • New Zealand
  • Oman
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Taiwan
  • United Arab Emirates
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

But I think the only land border with e-gates is Johor Bahru.

There are 2 places in Malaysia you can enter via the e-gate system: Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminals 1 and 2, and the Johor Bahru Checkpoint.
