Heavy rain and flash floods have caused severe damage across Mae Hong Son province, with a landslide in Mae Sariang district killing one person and affecting dozens of households. At least 36 villages in three districts have reported damage to homes, infrastructure, and farmland. Emergency teams responded to multiple areas impacted by flooding and landslides.

At 09:30 on 30 September 2025, Worasan Panthong, District Chief of Mae Sariang, reported a landslide in Ban Khong near the municipal slaughterhouse. The incident destroyed homes and killed a 38‑year‑old woman. The affected area is difficult to access and authorities are still working to confirm the extent of the damage and casualties.

Heavy rainfall from tropical storm “Bualoi” between 29–30 September caused flash floods and landslides in Mae Hong Son. The disaster has impacted Mae Sariang, Mae La Noi and Mueang Mae Hong Son districts, covering six subdistricts and 36 villages. Floodwaters damaged homes, agricultural land, bridges and roads, leaving several communities cut off and without communications.

In Ban Saphar, Ban Kat subdistrict, floodwaters from the Mae Haru River destroyed the bridge in front of Saphar School, damaging a pick‑up truck and about 15 houses. Residents in Ban Phamon, Mae Haru, were forced to relocate belongings. Local communities have set up charity kitchens to support affected residents.

District officials have instructed subdistrict leaders, local administrative bodies and security forces to prioritise safety and assist residents. Military, police and emergency units have been deployed for rescue and recovery. The Mae Hong Son Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office continues to survey damage and coordinate relief efforts.

Authorities are collecting data on casualties and damage. Recovery operations will depend on weather conditions and accessibility to affected areas. Ongoing monitoring of rivers and slopes will remain critical to preventing further loss of life.

Key Takeaways

• One woman killed and multiple homes damaged by landslides in Mae Sariang.

• Flooding affected 36 villages across three districts in Mae Hong Son.
