Furniture Shop Owner Dies After Falling From Fourth Floor

A 46-year-old furniture shop owner died after falling from the fourth floor of his residence in Mukdahan on the morning of 30 September 2025. Police and rescue workers were alerted to the scene opposite the landmark Ho Kaeo Mukdahan tower on the Mukdahan–Dontan Road. The man, identified as Mr Charoenphong, was found lying face up in a pool of blood, wearing only underwear.

His home, a four-storey building adjacent to his shop, had an open window on the fourth floor. According to his wife, the victim had been smoking at the window while she went to the bathroom. Moments later, she heard a loud noise and discovered her husband had fallen to the ground below. She called for help from neighbours before contacting the authorities.

Workers close to the victim said he routinely opened the window to smoke every morning. They reported no signs of conflict with his wife and no indication that he had been under stress.

Police confirmed the body was sent to Mukdahan Hospital for autopsy to establish the cause of death. Investigators said it remains unclear whether the fall was accidental or involved other factors. An inquiry is ongoing, and the case will proceed under legal process.
