Shutdown: US Govt Grinds to Halt as Congress Fails to Reach Deal

A lie you keep repeating.

No, a truth you call a lie.

Democrats brag they are going to shut the government down unless they get changes to previously passed legislation, such that they can give "free" healthcare to non-citizens, including illegal aliens.

Then, after the Democrats shut the government down (the only promise they have kept in years), Democrats blame Republicans for the shutdown.

Looking forward to a quote from a democrat saying that.

As of Jan. 1, 2024, adults in California ages 26 through 49 are eligible for Medi-Cal, regardless of their immigration status. All other Medi-Cal eligibility rules, including income limits, still apply. Find out more on the Department of Health Care Services website.

Now all you need to do is explain how Democrats who are in the minority managed to shutdown the Government.

Give it your best go.

IS that enough, or are you so stubborn not to see the trend here?

What the worst part is, the Dems voted no on a bill that they have passed yearly when the presidency was Democratic. The Dems are doing this deliberately without care or concern how it effects the people.

They have voted on this same bill many times in the past under Biden and passed it. There were not changes to it now either.

JOHN FETTERMAN

This first-term Democratic maverick from Pennsylvania has been firm in his commitment to never vote against legislation keeping the government operating.

"I won’t vote for the chaos of shuttering our government," Fetterman, 56, said in a statement late on Tuesday. "My vote was for our country over my party."

ANGUS KING

The 81-year-old Maine senator is an independent who aligns with Democrats and has been in the Senate since 2013.

"I could not, in good conscience, vote to shut the government down and hand even greater power to the trio of Donald Trump, Stephen Miller and Russell Vought," King said in a statement, referring to Trump's Deputy Chief of Staff Miller and Office of Management and Budget Director Vought.

These are Dem senators who have crossed the line and went against the Dems wishes to keep the government shut down.

The lie is ‘Democrats shutdown the Government’.

Let’s see if you can explain how they did so while in the minority.

They may be the minority. But this means nothing when 60 votes are needed to pass it. Obviously you know nothing about politics and use your feelings toward Trump to base judgement.

Let me explain how the Dems can shut down the government with the 60 votes needed to pass the bill to keep the government from shutting down.

What claim am I making? What I said was:

"Democrats brag they are going to shut the government down unless they get changes to previously passed legislation, such that they can give "free" healthcare to non-citizens, including illegal aliens.

Then, after the Democrats shut the government down (the only promise they have kept in years), Democrats blame Republicans for the shutdown."

What is not true?

Even Vox says Democrats shut it down:

"The real reason Democrats forced a government shutdown"

https://www.vox.com/politics/463408/government-shutdown-democrats-demands-health-care

And CNN is quoting democrats blaming Republicans for the shutdown:

"Democratic leaders blame Trump and GOP as government shutdown deadline lapses"

And:

"Democrats condemn GOP for government shutdown"

Yep, a sad life of causing the left to respond as I expect you, and other lefties, with grimaced and red faces.  Do you need a sombrero?

Great news, $8,000,000,000.00 in green-energy boondoggles canceled, with more to come!

Oh, and 18,000,000,000.00 in infrastructure funding to New York on hold!

Great work Senator Schumer!

White House Threatens to Not Pay Workers Furloughed by Shutdown

(Bloomberg) -- The White House is considering not paying federal employees for days they have been furloughed during the shutdown, according to a person familiar with the matter, a move that could run afoul of a law that mandates workers get backpay once the government re-opens.

Axios, which reported earlier on the memo, said some White House officials believe an amendment to the law allows leeway over whether or not to provide backpay to government workers. Democrats quickly refuted the memo.

“I think the law is clear,” Senator Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, told CNN Tuesday. “These federal workers will have their paycheck delayed, but if the Trump administration is now arguing that they’re going to eliminate the paychecks of those who are furloughed, that is an outrage. It is a violation of the law.”

No one should get paid for the days they do not work.

House GOP shouldn’t be paid for not working too.

As I understand it, House GOP members are continuing to work to reopen the government, even though it was Schumer that shut the government down.

Do you understand it differently?

But again, anyone, right or left, not working during the Schumer-Shutdown should not get paid for the days they don't work.

Not exactly what’s happening. GOP hold the gravel and MAGA Mike told his representatives to take a break. No one around to negotiate. Understandable as the GOP is under the grasped of the President who want to seize the shutdown to lay off federal employees.

As I know, most polls indicate that the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. The Dems want to alleviate the increase costs of Affordable Care hardship for the people while the GOP doesn’t want even to discuss. The longer the shutdown, the more people will blame the GOP. Just hope no plane accidents this time. Enough blame to the GOP.

Was the break just for the weekend and now they're back?

Perhaps Schumer should have not shut the government down.
