Latex Mattresses

Featured Replies

I have been using latex mattresses for many years in the Netherlands and they always lasted 10-12 years without any sagging.

Due to a herniated disc with chronic back pain, this always helped me

When I came to Thailand almost 30 years ago, no one here had ever heard of latex mattresses.
But now they are available here too.

So, I bought a latex mattress here for a price of 40k, less than a year ago, and it already has a dip on my side, I'm not overweight and weigh about 78 kg.

I'm quite disappointed - is this a common problem with local latex mattresses (Midas brand), or did I just get a bad one.

Who has experience with this, and in particular with the brand mentioned above?

Size and how deep mattress is will affected the price

If you going down that natural latex mattress route it is possible to get a king size 6 inch mattress for under 10,000 baht if you shop around

How does a real latex mattress look? not to be deceived

But for the compressed rubber, it weighs about 2 times more than a real latex mattress

Should buy a latex mattress with a zippered mattress cover. so that it can be opened to check whether the mattress in it is a rubber mattress or not

If mattress is real natural latex mattress (injected molded) it is possible to lift each corner of the mattress with one hand.

Largest single width of single piece of natural rubber is 6 inches if you require more they single join the pieces together

A 6 inch natural latex mattress should weight approx 60-70 kilos

There is a youtube video of a Thai buying a very firm normal mattress no zip so unable to see content fillings it was very firm because when opening it up it contain 10 bricks to increase the mattress weight

Its important on latex mattress to find out the density rating the higher the density the more firmness

Extra firm density rating is 110+

firm is between 90-95

anything below 80 is considered soft

Some stores suggest if body weight is 300lbs or above extra firm  density is more suitable

Are you able to roll your latex mattress if it only folds in 2 its likely to be a compressed latex mattress

As already mentioned, the mattress cost forty thousand baht, it is 20 cm thick and weighs 50 to 60 kg, and yes, the cover is removable, allowing me to see that it is indeed latex.
I cannot determine the density, but it is quite firm.

And it was at IKEA that I completely lost interest. They have a latex mattress that cost twenty thousand baht two years ago, and a year later that exact same mattress cost forty thousand baht.

Not sure if yours is real natural latex mattress (injected molded should not be layered and different colours

many sites mention microlatex

Micro latex isNatural rubber that has undergone a special compression process using Micro compression technology to provide firmness.

Microlatex seems to be imported from Belgium

With all the rubber available in Thailand why anyone would import from Europe is weird

I have a 6 inch and 4 inch real natural latex mattress (injected molded) and they haven't changed shape in the past 2 years

I also have  real natural latex pillows covers can be removed and another brand where the covers can't be removed and the difference between the 2 different types of pillows is huge pillow where cover can be removed very flexible and adjust shape  latex pillow where covered can't be removed very rigid unable to adjust shape makes me think this is compressed latex

https://midasbedding.com/th/mattress/c1.html

they have latex mattresses and latex foam mattresses most expensive is B10,500

Both use compressed microlatex from Belgium

and both show 6 layers of different material in the picture the microlatex looks like very thin compared to the other 5 layers of material

Some of the quoted prices you see are BS so was it 40k quality mattress, questionable.

I've had similar issue with IKEA mattresses, returned 2, binned 1, replaced with Dunlopillo, even changed the IKEA slats.

Have you discovered lower back stretching yet? that can be a game changer, was for me

Bought wood bed at the local store with a firm  mattress for 8k 4 years ago, and a decent 5cm topping  from IKEA 4K I think it was, and sleeps like a baby, and no more back issues. We plan to change the topping, any good firm topper  brands anyone can suggest.

I bought this at Mattress City, so you would expect good quality from a specialist retailer. And yes, I saw that it is micro-latex from Belgium, and I agree with you as to why it should come from there.
As it happens, long time ago, I used to have mattresses from Belgium under the name Lattoflex, and they were perfect mattresses, as mentioned above.

As I mentioned above, IKEA has completely lost its appeal for me, if only because of the constant price changes.

Regarding Dunlopillo, are they latex or latex foam?

I no longer do stretching exercises; I had a hernia 40 years ago and since then I have had almost no feeling in my left leg (sciatica).

Dunlopillo has a huge range check it out, apparently from England but I don't believe that, mine has only a layer of latex. Maybe see a back specialist for stretches or check YouTube, certainly helped me which i didn't expect. I had a couple of herniated discs 25 years ago

Its the picture on the right that you want

Compressed latex picture on the left is normally made up of scraps and maybe other material

Thank you very much for your detailed information. I have contacted the manufacturer, and they have responded that they will get in touch with me.
If their solution is not satisfactory, I am considering purchasing a mattress from Luckyglobest and placing it on top.
