Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has called for strict controls to curb speculation and price manipulation in Việt Nam's real estate market. The move aims to enhance housing supply with diverse market segments and affordable prices, safeguarding citizens' access to housing. During a meeting on October 11 in Hà Nội, PM Chính emphasized the goal of completing over 100,000 social housing units by the end of 2025, in line with national housing strategies.

The government has been actively working to streamline investment projects and boost housing availability, especially in affordable segments. Currently, 132,616 social housing units are under development, with 73 new projects and 57,815 units launched in the past nine months. Despite progress, issues such as outdated policies, limited affordable housing, and high urban real estate prices persist.

PM Chính pointed out challenges like market speculation, inflated pricing, and lack of transparency in transactions. He urged for innovative solutions to establish regulated trading platforms to stabilize the market. The objective is to improve housing access for workers and low-to-middle-income earners, making home ownership more attainable.

Looking forward, the focus will be on achieving the social housing unit goal by 2025 while undergoing administrative reforms. Emphasis will be on boosting affordable housing supply and preventing speculative investments. Improvements in credit policies and enterprise involvement will also be key to supporting the housing market's growth.

Key Takeaways

  • PM Chính targets 100,000 social housing units by 2025.
  • Current challenges include outdated policies and affordability issues.
  • Focus will be on preventing speculation and enhancing housing access.
