Two Chinese nationals were arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport after a two-day burglary spree targeting homes in Bangkok’s Soranakorn area. The arrest took place on October 16, 2025, at the airport’s Zone 3 car park on the second floor. Police investigators intercepted the suspects, identified as Li, 38 and Xiaowu, 39, as they prepared to board a flight out of Thailand. Officers recovered gold jewellery, Buddhist amulets, Buddha statues, cash and commemorative banknotes believed to have been stolen during the break-ins.

The burglaries occurred on October 14. The first was reported around 21:30 when a resident returned home to find their property ransacked. CCTV footage showed intruders scaling a fence and forcing entry through a back door. Earlier that evening, at about 20:30, a nearby residence on Soi Soranakorn 9 was targeted by three suspects. Two men climbed the perimeter wall while a third kept watch outside. The break-in lasted approximately ten minutes, with valuables worth more than 310,000 baht stolen from a safe.

Police investigations linked Li and Xiaowu to both crimes after reviewing surveillance footage and tracing their movements. The suspects had entered Thailand on October 13 and were due to depart on October 15. Li allegedly rented a car used to conduct surveillance in several districts, including Don Mueang, Sai Mai, Bang Khen and Huai Khwang, as well as areas bordering Pathum Thani province.

“They operated in a group of three, splitting stolen goods immediately to minimise detection risk,” a police investigator explained. “We’re pursuing the third member and suspect multiple additional crimes.” The pair were detained for questioning and face charges of burglary and possession of stolen property. Authorities believe they may be linked to other thefts across Bangkok.

Police are now working with immigration and forensic teams to track the movements of the suspects prior to their arrest. The investigation continues as officers analyse CCTV evidence to identify the third accomplice and confirm whether the gang was involved in wider criminal activity.
