AIS/3BB Router installed with Media Server

Featured Replies

3BB installed a new G6605 router for me. Since then, I can see a media server in Explorer on my Windows network and also on my TV when selecting sources.
Does anyone know what this is all about and how I can use it?
The technicians at 3BB were unable to answer my question.

  • Why are you so stubborn about your opinion? My router is installed by 3BB on loan, and only 3BB has access to the settings. And no: there is no label under the router that contains user data.

  • You do have a Username and password... If its all beyond you and you aren't willing to learn, then perhaps you should forget about it.

  • The personal attacks here are going too far. Anyone who doesn't know that service providers sometimes don't want to disclose the necessary data should not claim here that “you have access data.”

I'm guessing you can start by plugging a storage drive with media into a USB port on the router.

I have had a USB stick plugged into the router for quite some time, but I cannot see its contents anywhere.

Great idea if you don't have a username and password!

I don't have a username or password! Access to this is restricted to service personnel from the internet provider, AIS/3BB in this case.

Everyone has a Username and Password to access the Router GUI. Usually found on the underside of the Router.

Four folders named Folder, Music, Photo, and Video appear on the PC and TV. They contain subfolders, but all of them are empty. And nothing can be copied into them.

Are they being stubborn or is it you?

You would be the first person in history to not have a label on a router supplied by an ISP. Where would they put the Serial Number or the Device Description? How would you know the model of the router? I'm suggesting that you might be being economical with the truth. Don't do that.

Post a picture of that label. On that label is your username and password, like it is for everyone else.

No settings within the media server to look elsewhere? Sounds strange.

Here is a picture of the bottom of the router. Where is the label that you think every router must have?

It's in your photo. Can you not see it?

Have you tried admin:admin? Go to address http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 then to enter the Username and Password.

It's usually that or admin:(the last four digits of the MAC address on that label).

Don't neglect to say thank you.

Okay, then I'll be the first. Where can I pick up my prize?

Is there something not quite right with you? That IS the label in your picture. You know...the one you claimed was not there and didn't contain user data.

You seem more interested in making a fool of yourself, than finding a solution and being grateful.

So, get over yourself and let us know the result of the likely Username and Password you have been given.

Remember that you were given a Username and Password in the original video. Did you even try that first?

If that didn't work, then the second option that I gave you, should.

Seems that you've gone a bit quiet. Shall we assume that you actually tried the password in the video or the option given to you here and it worked?

It seems people lack even basic good manners here.

So, experts, admin/admin definitely doesn't work. I tried that right after watching the video. Even with the D411 attached. It doesn't work.

What am I overlooking on the label?

The Wi-Fi password is there, I can see that clearly. But I can't see anything else, no matter how hard I try. What can you see that I can't?

My thanks would certainly have reached you already if I had received a reasonable response.

You are beginning to sound like you don't deserve a "reasonable response".

Why do some ISPs not disclose the access data for their routers?

Internet service providers (ISPs) do this for several reasons, some technical, some strategic. Here is an overview of the most important motives:

1. Support and security reasons

  • Avoiding misconfigurations: With free access, many users would change VLANs, PPPoE, or DNS settings, for example, and thus “crash” their Internet connection. Support would then have to spend a lot of time troubleshooting the problem.
  • Network security: If passwords or admin access data are known, malware or third parties could more easily compromise the device, e.g., through remote access.

2. Remote maintenance and updates

  • ISPs often manage firmware, security updates, and configurations centrally (e.g., VoIP, IPv6, TR-069 management).
  • To maintain this control, full administrator access is not granted—otherwise, changes made by the user could disrupt or render remote maintenance unusable.

The suggestion as I read it was admin:d411

If that doesn't work, try:

user:user

or

user:d411

or

admin:e4d411

or

user:e4d411

Giving up is for those with weak hearts and minds. Did your parents not teach you about perseverance?

It is simply not plausible for the user to not have been given the username and password for the router. Did they not supply a manual? That would also be very unusual.

How else would you change your WiFi password or some similarly basic task?

I don't know who you asked at 3BB, but definitely the wrong person. If you tell them that you need to change your WiFi password that should work.

If any of that fails to get the required result, then simply follow this link and pose the question here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/180446535798602/posts/2187429965100239/

There are people there with the same model of router, who are obviously signed in and showing the results.

usual user name ADMIN and Password 123456 or 000000 or whatever is written on the label, but as you said there is always information to access the router settings,  the guy doesn't appreciate the help

I had hoped to find people here who know what they're writing about. That was probably too much to ask.

What help, please? There was no help at all! Thanks for nothing.

@thpitsch You seem have a REALLY bad attitude problem. You should get some help with that or it will ruin you.

You have had help from many people, including a link to people with the same router as yours. But yet you state that no one has helped you.

That's not normal. Your mum isn't here with you. So if strangers help you, you should show gratitude.

How can it be that every other poster here seems to think that you have a very poor attitude? Is everyone but you the bad person?

Sort it out...it's not an attractive trait.
