'Slightly ghoulish' targeting of Prince Andrew ?

Featured Replies

Yes this spongeing sleazebag has been rightly shamed for his sordid behaviour BUT is it being overdone ? Of course he shouldn't continue to live in Royal splendour at our expense, but, until further evidence arrives, should we all calm down ? After all, big house or not, he has already been completely shamed . . . .

This caught my eye in the DT. The lovely Annabel Denham comments :-

" . . . Am I alone in finding all this slightly ghoulish? Andrew has not been charged, let alone convicted, of any crime under UK law. Bad taste and gormlessness are not illegal, thankfully – our creaking criminal justice system has problems enough. And in trying to disappear Andrew, the Windsors risk creating a bigger problem. It would be unsurprising if an impecunious ex-Royal then wrote a massive book slagging off his brother, his nephew and the rest of the gang. And then went on TV to promote it with Sarah at his side. It would make the Harry and Meghan show look like Sooty and Sweep. As to the laments of “whatever happened to our monarchy”: since when? People cannot seriously be hankering for the days when Kings burned heretics or ducked scolds in ponds. George I imprisoned his daughter-in-law and exiled his son. George IV, as Prince Regent, was a drunk, a debtor, and a womaniser. Queen Victoria’s son Bertie brought his father to an early grave by his behaviour, had a string of mistresses (including Queen Camilla’s great-grandmother), ran up massive gambling debts and was implicated in several scandals. Edward VIII abdicated to marry divorcee Wallis Simpson.

Perhaps the hate fest would soften were Andrew to display a modicum of remorse. It has doubtless been intensified by the knowledge many implicated in the dreadful Epstein affair have faced no consequences, unlike the victims who are still waiting for justice.

But can anyone believe Andrew has a path to redemption, whatever he does next? Our society is quick to blame and slow to forgive, taking a little too much delight in the downfall of others. I’ve never met him (though as a child I briefly spent time with his nephews and found them to be courteous and well-adjusted), and worry far too many people are far too willing to form condemnatory judgments solely on the basis of third-hand opinions. He doesn’t deserve a comeback tour; obscurity would be kindness enough. Yet the real question might not be what Prince Andrew says about the monarchy, but what this unrelenting scorn says about us."

Good fun - food for thought . . . .

I don't feel sorry for him.

Nor do I.  But when a man is hounded, and there's no other word for it, and his family vilified, I think the press have gone too far.

And as for the press complaining that he was trying to dig up dirt on that 'innocent' 17 year old, it's hypocritical on a huge scale because that's how the press themselves operate now.

When did he ever do a days work?in his life

And as usual, the person who did this to him is a woman, Virgina Giuffre, a total whore, fraudster and liar, who specializes in extortion.

Evil comes in unexpected shapes.

But you are dating these kind of women. Do you live in fear?

Hahahahahahaha, terrified!

Don't you just love how these women try to ruin men's lives with lies, and the men then try to buy them off with millions?

Andrew tried it. Sean Coombs tried it.

And what happens? The women always win. You cannot buy them off. Andrew paid this whore 16 milion to shut up. Sean Coombs paid Cassie Ventura 20 million to shut up.

All to no avail, if anyone ever thinks they can make a binding deal with a whore, the Gods of history will look down on him with pity.

This evil perjuring whore Virginia Giuffre even made sure to write a book that's published after she dies, just so she can ruin a few more men with impunity Impeccable design and evil. We have no chance.

I'm not sure at all what that's got to do with it ?

But you could argue that his Royal duties were work - I must admit, I'd hate the things they have to do . . . .

Cam - I get it but the 'as usual' comes over a bit strong. Neither men or women are perfect . . . . ?

Fair enough, let's say "again". I mean Johnny Depp, Elvis, Tom Brady, it's not the first time men are taken down by women.

Well I'm not sure that women are generally, worse, or more evil, than men. ATB

Men are just as bad, you're not wrong.

Andrew does not live in Royal splendour. The home he occupies is falling apart as he does not have the financial means to maintain it. The neglect  is also probably due in part to his trying to embarrass Charles into restoring an allowance that was  removed. Neither Andrew, nor his companion Ms. Ferguson have the income to continue living as they do. The man has an estimated net worth of 4 million Pounds . Even if it has a return of 7% or 10%,  not much is left after tax, and yes he pays income and capital gain taxes. As he is no longer a working Royal he cannot take work related tax credits or deductions. His ongoing legal fees are a major expense.
