Severe flooding has struck Vietnam's central region, prompting Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà to call for urgent intervention. The official dispatch urges local governments and relevant ministries to implement emergency measures in affected areas like Quảng Trị, Huế, Đà Nẵng, and Quảng Ngãi provinces. Immediate actions include ensuring the safety of communities and vital infrastructure.

The flooding comes amid intense rainfall attributed to a combination of climatic factors, including a cold front and moist easterly winds. This event has led to unprecedented flooding in central Vietnam, particularly along rivers in Huế and Đà Nẵng. Authorities are advised to monitor areas at risk of flash floods and landslides closely.

Local officials are tasked with evacuating residents, providing shelters, and managing traffic flow to ensure access to isolated regions. Essential supplies like food, water, and medicine must be distributed, and post-flood restoration of services prioritized. Ensuring the safety of students returning to school and the community's health is also critical.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is focusing on flood forecasting and maintaining the safety of fishing activities, while the Ministry of Construction works on road protection and repairs. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is tasked with safeguarding hydroelectric dams and industrial sites, minimizing flood-related damages.

National Defence and Public Security ministries are on standby to support evacuations, disaster response, and rescue operations. Meanwhile, major media outlets such as Vietnam News Agency and Vietnam Television are providing updates and safety information to the public.

The current weather pattern is expected to persist until October 29, with heavy rainfalls predicted for Quảng Trị to Quảng Ngãi provinces, bringing 200 to 500 millimeters of rain, and exceeding 800 millimeters in certain areas. These conditions necessitate sustained preparedness and response efforts.
